New recipe on Warchefs
Hot Apple Cider is now available HERE.
(also, this blog is inactive. If you like food and World of Warcraft, follow Warchefs at its current Tumblr address!)
A gentle reminder that you should vote, even if it’s only for your local leaders and rules. It actually makes more difference than at the national level and will allow for better choices in future elections.
Also, if you are still following this blog, you should definitely follow Warchefs at its current home HERE instead.
Despite the shadowban being lifted (allegedly; I keep getting a “sensitive content” warning page) I’m going to continue posting from the new account, so if you’re still getting notifications from this blog (warchefs-archive), please follow Warchefs.tumblr.com instead.
Maybe juuuuuuuust a little too late there, @staff
Like, almost an entire YEAR too late.
Anyway... this blog is now officially un-shadowbanned, but Warchefs is now elsewhere on Tumblr. Let’s hope I never have to rely on the appeals system again, because they’re useless.

New blog. New recipes. Old URL.
See our most recent posts!
New recipe!
See our entry for Sweet Nectar here!
(don’t worry, we’re still on Tumblr, just from a new blog, because Staff is useless.)

reblog for anyone who missed the announcement the first two times.
I found a workaround for the Warchefs shadowban. Sort of.
You may have noticed that the URL has changed to warchefs-archive. That’s because I started a NEW blog with the Warchefs name, because despite me sending in multiple appeals, the tech support has been frustratingly silent. And it’s been months.
So if you’re still somehow interested in my take on Azerothian foodcraft after everything that’s happened, please follow Warchefs’ NEW home at the original warchefs.tumblr URL. I’ll be posting any new recipes there from now on, assuming it doesn’t get banned as well.
See you there! (oh, and my newest recipe is almost ready to go. I need to run a few more tests first, but I’m quite confident with it.)
A joke from “Hellthreequel: The Third One“, a play put on in-game by a group of highly creative players known as @thetirisfaltheatretroupe (Wyrmrest Accord). I named the blog long before I ever knew of their existence; apparently, a love of wordplay led each of us to the same joke, and this amuses me no end.

What’s Garrosh Hellscream’s favorite drink?
A mag’harita.
Hello there. Love you recipes. Since I love to cook, Ive found myself in a bit of a pickle (hehe): I need a well combination of a Kal'Dorei and Orcish feast. Trying to mix them. Is there anything you can reccomend or is there a recipe to suffice both tastes? Because... Well, we both pledged to different factions. Tyty so much and keep up to good cookin'~
Hmm... That IS a bit of a mishmash, considering the sheer difference in both cultures. It also depends a whole lot on whether you’re going for Mag’har Orc (hearty stews and fire-roasted meats) or Azerothian Horde Orc (which seems to take inspiration from their longtime Troll allies, resulting in foods like jambalaya and gumbo).
And the Night Elves can either skew Greek (Broken Isles elves ate olives, feta, and grapes) or Korean/Japanese (Darnassian night elves eat foods like kimchi, mandu, and rice-flour cakes).
Perhaps you could make ribs or meat skewers, with a sweet sauce and a rice dish of some sort on the side? Oven-roasted sweet potatoes might be good as well, since they were apparently grown on Teldrassil before... well, you know. And if you need a salad, something with feta cheese and cranberries might be a good choice.
As for dessert, there isn’t much information on either race, but you can probably do something fruit-based, like a pie or a tart. My attempts so far at making Cactus Apple Surprise have fallen flat, but I do know that prickly pears are consumed in Orgrimmar, and the syrup is good for flavoring drinks.
Good luck and happy cooking!
I love this blog and your little additions to the recipes you make! If you’re taking any suggestions, Dalaran Tiramisu is one of my favorite food stuffs in game. As more human recipes have chocolate and coffee, I imagine it must be a delicacy for elves.
Chocolate and coffee are both grown in tropical areas, so I’d argue that they may have been initially discovered by the Trolls (and possibly only consumed by royalty, like in ancient Mesoamerica), and then modified by other cultures that showed up in Azeroth. But yes, tiramisu in particular sounds like a human invention, since it incorporates sugar and cream.
Considering that we have both the Dalaran sweetshop variety and the “Kul Tiramisu” in BfA cooking, I’ll have to work out which version to tackle. But since I love tiramisu, I don’t see any problem with that.
I want to try everything in WoW, the food always looks so good!
And there certainly isn’t any shortage of things to try!
Something about the icon and ingredient list form Mon'Dazi struck me today as like beignets. Beignets fried in fish oil, versus other oils?
You know that was exactly what I was thinking when I looked at them? I can’t wait to get out of this stupid foot brace, so I can start running recipe tests again!
Sailor's pie sounds like an old style meat- or fish-pie, with a hot water crust pastry.
It does! Like a lot of savory pies, it probably was invented to use up leftover bits of whatever couldn’t be sold at the market. Fish pie is a classic English dish, so I will probably start my research there, and I’ve been meaning to try out hot water crust anyway.
EDIT: A quick look at recipes online reveals that fish pie tends to be covered with mashed potato like a shepherder’s pie, so I theorize that the flour in the sailor’s pie recipe is actually used as a thickener for the sauce, not a crust. Additionally, the in-game icon does seem to resemble a mashed potato topping.
(Still gonna try out that hot water crust thing, though. I’ll just use it for a different pie.)
Foosaka I can understand, 'Aromatic Fish Oil' as a baking ingredient for early Battle for Azeroth cooking boggles my mind.
It’s not as crazy as you might think!
Not that I’ve ever tried extracting fish oil, but I’ll bet that if you do it right, it doesn’t smell or taste fishy at all, much like when fat is cooked out of beef to make lard. If it’s done right, I imagine it’s virtually flavorless.
That said, any recipes we try to recreate here will probably not involve fish oil, since that doesn’t strike me as an easy ingredient to acquire.
