#OOC post
I'm sorry but on the subject of your recent post, what kind of gender neutral language would you prefer be used for Shredhead?
I know it varies person to person so I wanted to kind of know what would be best
to be honest, I'm unsure how else to say it other than. Not gendered language. I.E., "dude, bro, girliepop," etc are a no. Same with "mech" in place of man. (See: the countless transneutral, transfem, and transmasc people expressing how those terms are not as gender neutral as one might think, even if the person saying it "does it for everyone, even cis people").
I have it in my pinned post, shredhead is canonically nonbinary and uses they/them. And, as longarm mod pointed out in their addition to the previous post about it, it's not hard to look up gender neutral language, and it's not hard to find gender neutral language that fits each character. That, in my eyes, is enough point of reference.
If you want to know what I, Mod Sol, prefer for myself: I would say neutral or masculine language; and for pronouns the only ones I don't like are she/her. Other than that I use anything so long as it's not, like, a slur or something. Get creative.
and finally, and this isn't just directed at you, nonbinary people aren't this nebulous concept where you need to tiptoe around us for fear of misgendering. If you say something they don't like being called, reflect, apologize, respond accordingly and respectfully, and do better in the future. Do not, and I mean this, self flaggulate and make the apology about your guilt. You're putting the person you hurt in the position of needing to comfort you, instead of respecting them and their wishes, and ensuring that they can still be comfortable as themselves around you.
and for the love of GOD, PRIMUS, AND ANYTHING THAT YOU LOVE IN THIS WORLD, STOP APOLOGIZING ON ANON INSTEAD OF DIRECTLY.
Get off your cross, we need the wood.
Hey! Warpath! Buddy! It's been way too long. Come give me a hug! We should share a cube and catch up
