Can you tell us something about your parents?

My father is human and my mother is Klingon. 

Well, it’s something... I suppose you wanted a juicier detail, like my father hasn’t spoken to me in almost twenty years. Or that I had a dream -- or maybe not a dream -- that my mother is dead. 

Maybe you wanted something sweet? Like one of my favorite memories of my parents both speaking to me, saying the same thing. First one would say something in Standard, then my mother would repeat it in Klingon, and my father would repeat it in Spanish. That’s how they taught me the basics of three different languages when I was young.

Hello, any news from Alpha to share with your crew?

Not really. I think Tom’s family was pretty subdued after the news from the previous month. 

There were the races Voyager’s crew participated in. Everyone was congratulated for completing their runs. Tom’s parents were both shocked and proud of him for running the 10K.

I did. It was so much fun to race again! Although I have to admit it was more of a challenge than I thought it would be. I’ve never competed in such a long distance race before. There’s the added bonus of knowing that I won that race while pregnant.

Chief Torres, I would like to schedule a holodeck session with you in odrder to present the results of processors cores improvement project. Seven finished it this weekend and it looks good. The original target was 3%, but she managed 4.83%. We wanted to reduce the risk of main computer shut down when we are under attack and all available power is transferred to the shields.

It is now ready for your final review and can be implemented directly.

Ugh this wait is killing me. Less than twenty-four hours until we know. This weekend wasn’t so bad because we had the stream and the race and everything. But now. UGH!

In completely unrelated news, my team is on edge. And I definitely heard someone comment about my moodiness this morning. What the hell is that about? I haven’t been moody, right? Have I? Of course I haven’t. I just won a 10K, you made me pancakes last night, engines are at peak efficiency. Why would I possibly be in a bad mood?

I’m doing okay. Funny though, I figured after the race I’d never want to put on my running shoes again, but I kinda miss it. Maybe I’m still riding the high from beating my best time. Or maybe I’m just still anxious about the fact I sent that letter to Ellie. And yeah, I am thinking about tomorrow. Want to go for a jog with me tonight? Then maybe I can think of a few other ways to distract both of us, starting with a post-run shower.

What qualities do you admire in your engineering team?

I admire their resourcefulness, always finding ways to repair the ship with damaged or alien parts. They are the hardest working people I've ever known. Their consideration for each other and for me means more than I can ever say.

I could go on, but I think this list is well rounded.

Tom, you should have heard the dramatic sighing over the comm. There was so much I though maybe the ventilation system was broken. 

I’m heading there at 1400. If you’re busy, you don’t have to come. But… it would be really nice to find out together. You know, if I’m even pregnant.
