Crocheting Nam Seon-ho

the mctna fandom may be a bit quiet and dormant right now, but i can still entertain myself in the meantime by crocheting nam seon-ho!

it's a project i started about 1 year ago when i was still a complete beginner who only just started out crocheting. i made a lot of mistakes and soon gave up since the (endless) strands of hair were rly killing me lol. back then, i only got as far as making the basic doll body and a few strands of hair. now, during my on-going flu, i've picked it up again, finishing the hair (at last!!!!!), sewing on the ears and gluing on the eyes. i also got started on the clothes/hanbok. the cyan pants/baji are done and i'm working on the jackets/jeogori now.

(please ignore the many guiding threads - they are there so i can see and count the rows better. also i tied doll seon-ho's hair back so i could work on the back more easily haha.)

can you guess which outfit i'm trying to recreate?

OP, I don't go here, but this is so incredibly cool!! Clothes with amigurumi is so cool, and I love how you did the hair!! Seeing fiber arts in fandom is awesome

Haha hello hello!! Also, reread the first post, crocheting doll and clothes (and his beautiful hair 😭) as a complete beginner is insane!! I've only made a few bumblebees and a bunny rabbit, and those made me crash out multiple times 😭

And thank you for the more detailed pics plus the patterns! I really like the flaps (?) on his robe (? Idk the terminology) , very cute with the pink finishing border and his star closing pin 😭. There's some interesting stuff in the patterns too. I only watched a little bit of the video, but I would not have thought of sewing the arm and then crocheting over/around it. But maybe that's common in amigurumi doll world?! Idk but it's cool!!

yepppp deciding to crochet a doll with clothes and hair was pure hubris of me as a complete beginner 🤣 this was actually the sad state i left him in when i got frustrated and stopped about 1 year (or longer) ago:

you are very welcome!! honestly idk what the flaps are called either dfhjkfhdf. thank you for complimenting the flaps with pink borders and the star pin!!! i'm using the pin/paper clip as a stitch marker so i can see where to add traditional knot buttons later... here are some ref pics so you know what i'm talking about:

as you can see, there's still a lot to do: the wide-sleeved underrobe, the belt, the shoes, the hair ribbon, the aforementioned buttons... i'll try to tackle them one by one and see how it goes haha.

yes i didn't think of crocheting around the arms/legs/body either. but it makes so much sense since the clothes will be more well-fitted, so that was very helpful and cool to learn!!

Observations

1) Taec works out and congratulations to him and to his soon-to-be-wife, because he looks so good

2) he was really out there in 2021 paving the way for the broccoli hairstyle that's everywhere today

3) he was positively excellent in this role and was criminally overlooked and underacclaimed for how good he was

4) I do not get why people watch this and think "yes, they're fucking, even though they're brothers" because, even sitting aside the reprehensible sibling aspect, when I watch this strangling, I feel genuine terror cut with nothing else - when I watch Vinny strangling people...yeah, I get why that's a little bit hot as well as scary
