Wedding?
The Marvel Cinematic Universe throughout the years
When Everything Everywhere All at Once said “The only thing I do know is that we have to be kind. Please, be kind, especially when we don’t know what’s going on"
When the Good Place said “Why choose to be good every day when there is no guaranteed reward now or in the afterlife… I argue that we choose to be good because of our bonds with other people and our innate desire to treat them with dignity. Simply put, we are not in this alone.”
When Jean-Paul Sartre said ”‘Hell is other people’ is only one side of the coin. The other side, which no one seems to mention, is also ‘Heaven is each other’. Hell is separateness, uncommunicability, self-centeredness, lust for power, for riches, for fame. Heaven on the other hand is very simple, and very hard: caring about your fellow beings.“

25% of the people have a 4th cone and see colors as they are
Given the sudden interest for the color of dresses and vision, here some of the fascinating findings we did recently.
The color nuances we see depend on the number and distribution of cones (=color receptors) in our eye. You can check this rainbow: how many color nuances do you count?
You see less than 20 color nuances: you are a dichromats, like dogs, which means you have 2 types of cones only. You are likely to wear black, beige, and blue. 25% of the population is dichromat.
You see between 20 and 32 color nuances: you are a trichromat, you have 3 types of cones (in the purple/blue, green and red area). You enjoy different colors as you can appreciate them. 50% of the population is trichromat.
You see between 33 and 39 colors: you are a tetrachromat, like bees, and have 4 types of cones (in the purple/blue, green, red plus yellow area). You are irritated by yellow, so this color will be nowhere to be found in your wardrobe. 25% of the population is tetrachromat.
You see more than 39 color nuances: come on, you are making up things! there are only 39 different colors in the test and probably only 35 are properly translated by your computer screen anyway :)
It is highly probable that people who have an additional 4th cone do not get tricked by blue/black or white/gold dresses, no matter the background light ;)
(x)
I see 21 colors. I had no idea there are so many more.
I see 35-39 colours, and I hate the colour yellow. That was actually what made me curious enough to stop scrolling and count. Who knew there was a scientific reason behind my colour preferences? So the idea here is that what I see as annoyingly, garishly bright, most people don’t see as clearly, and that’s why it’s “cheerful?” (I’ve never understood that description of yellow.)
I barely saw 18 or 19. Dang :/
Im fucking colorblind
37, and I fucking despise yellow! I moved into a house and literally the first thing I did before I even brought in furniture, etc. was to paint the two hideously yellow rooms a much better, prettier turquoise blue.
35, but I like some yellows quite a lot – mostly yellows in the “butter” area, softer matte types, or darkish ones that get called “gold” or “old” types of names. my living room is painted “Tuscan gold”.
It is highly probable that people who have an additional 4th cone do not get tricked by blue/black or white/gold dresses, no matter the background light ;)
38, and regret to inform you the fucking dress is white and gold in that photo
39, but the fact that all of the color bands are supposed to be the same width kinda skews the results for me? Like, I can see where there should be two different colors in a number of those bands, even if it’s not visually possible, and that might be helping me “cheat” somehow. That said, I can only really make out the difference in a lot of bands because I can see the difference where those two colors are touching? IDK, someone help me figure this out.
I am also apparently a weirdo who still loves yellow, even though it’s still not in my wardrobe at all. Probably because I’m white, and yellows and greens tend to make white people look sickly, while people with darker skin look gorgeous in those colors.
if they’re all supposed to be the same width, then I miscounted, bc I’m seeing double width purple, blue, and green bands and a triple width yellow band, plus 34 single width bands, which if all the bands are actually the same width would come to 43
Huh; I get 44 when I count each double as two. I’m honestly kind of astonished I can actually see two different colors in the triple yellow band. I see five double-width bands; add that to my 39 different colors, and that brings me up to 44 again.
I gotta make some tea for work tomorrow, but I’ll do some editing when I get back.
it’s gotta be deliberate so there’s a few double width bands for everyone, not just for everyone who sees fewer than 39 of these colors
Okay, I’ve mapped out all of the colors as I see them. With any luck, the readmore I put it under will work; I used off-white for the dividing lines, so hopefully that will help, but I still can’t guarantee the brightness won’t cause migraines or eyestrain or other, related photosensitivity stuff.

why is Rogue One simultaneously the best most uplifting thing for your mental health and also the worst most devastatingly life-shattering thing for your mental health
it’s about hope, it’s about revolution, it’s about the devastating consequences of war, it’s about how neutrality and keeping your head down is a privileged luxury most people don’t have the option of choosing. it’s about how choosing to stand up to tyranny is the bravest thing you can possibly do even if you’re the only one and there’s no way you will survive it but it’s worth fighting against anyways. it’s about how loss and tragedy is a shared experience. it’s about complex relationships towards religion and spiritual beliefs. it’s about colonization it’s about diaspora it’s about immigrants and minorities and those that fascism repeatedly attempts to stamp out. it’s about fighting for what you believe in, how much will you fight for it? how far are you willing to go? how far is too far if you’re fighting for freedom against your oppressors? it’s about the guilt and moral dilemma of what you’re willing to sacrifice for the cause, whether it’s your life or your soul. but you do it anyways because you believe that it’s worth it for galaxy-wide freedom, for justice, for everything you’ve lost because of tyranny. It’s about remembering the light, spending so much time in the dark fighting for freedom and then being pulled out by others who remind you that you’re not alone and they will fight with you because they think it’s worth it too.

Interview with Michelle Hurd (SAG LA Vice President):
All your favorite things that you've been watching for years, and you know those actors that you go, "Oh, there's that guy on that show." You may not necessarily know their names—you may see me on a show, you may not know my name, but you've seen me on a lot of things. Those actors, those actors are working-class actors. We're literally working paycheck-to-paycheck.
It takes $26,000 to qualify for your health insurance for SAG-AFTRA. A guest star on a show, producers will do top-of-show—this is a verbiage that they created, it's not in our contracts, it's what they created—so they're not gonna budge above whatever their top-of-show is. Top-of-show, generally, could be anywhere from $5,000 to $7 or $8,000 an episode. Maybe that sounds great. So say I cobble together 2 or 3 guest stars during a year. People, our audiences, sees me on 3 or 4 different shows, and they're like, "Wow, that actress is working, she's doing all this stuff." I still, by doing that with top-of-show, I have still not qualified for my health insurance. We literally are going paycheck to paycheck.
Back in the day, we used to have quotes. That once you've been working for a certain amount of time, you're working really hard to get your quote up, to get your salary up. They decided to get rid of that, so they no longer acknowledge or respect that. This industry is one of the few industries that seniority, that being in this industry for a long time, that gathering up an amazing resume, doesn't mean anything to them.
Yes, there is some very wealthy actors. Absolutely. There's 160,000 members in our union. 160,000. 1% are the top grossers. 1%. And of that, maybe 2% are the ones that literally support and uplift our union, and keep the insurance going. Everybody else is below the line.
People don't realize that SAG-AFTRA is not just actors. We're broadcasters, we're stunt coordinators, stunt workers. We're dancers and singers and voiceover artists. There's a huge umbrella that we encompass, and 98% of those people are below the line? Are struggling to make a living? In an industry that we all know is making billions?
I think about this all the time, we talk about this in our caucuses. Back in the day, we used to talk about millions, everybody wanted to make millions, and oh wouldn't that be amazing. These people are making billions, and yet they don't have money to give us just a scooch more? To contribute to our pension and health? To allow us to qualify for our health insurance?
We have actors that you all will recognize. You will know us from that guy on that show that have lost their insurance, no longer qualify, and are hustling just to get a day on a job to just pay their rent. Not even their insurance, their rent.
This is a serious, crucial moment. This sounds hyperbolic or whatever, but it is a life-or-death situation. Because we're talking about, you know, taking care of our families. Taking care of our loved ones, you know, our parents, if they're getting older. You always, as a child, you want to be able to contribute. Should I be at this age, still asking my parents for money? No. I should be taking care of my parents. It's painful.
if you don't do anything else today,
Please have a moment of silence for the people who were killed instead of freed when news of emancipation finally reached the furthest corners of the american south.
have another moment for the ledgers, catalogs, and records that were burned and the homes that were destroyed to hide the presence of very much alive and still enslaved people on dozens of plantations and homesteads across the south for decades after emancipation.
and have a third moment for those who were hunted and killed while fleeing the south to find safety across the border, overseas, in the north and to the west.
black people. light a candle, write a note to those who have passed telling them what you have achieved in spite of the racist and intolerant conditions of this world, feel the warmth of the flame under your hand, say a prayer of rememberance if you are religious, place the note under the candle, and then blow it out.
if you have children, sit them down and tell them anything you know about the life of oldest black person you've ever met. it doesn't have to be your own family. tell them what you know about what life was like for us in the days, years, decades after emancipation. if you don't know much, look it up and learn about it together.
This is Juneteenth.
