Okay, I finished the game yesterday, and after thinking about it for a day, here are my final thoughts:
I hate Kaede less than I did in the beginning
I don’t feel bad about hating Tsumugi anymore
Kokichi isn’t a very good antag, as his actions have essentially no motivation, but I do like him as a character- as poorly written as he may be
I wish I didn’t get spoilers about Rantaros ultimate because he’s a very interesting character whom I wish I payed more attention to
Shuichi is a good protagonist, and while Kaede shouldn’t have been marketed as the protag, I am glad Shuichi was the protag because I don’t think Kaede would have been a good protag for the entire game
The fandom should take Kiyos trauma more seriously and probably would if he was a female character. It doesn’t excuse his actions, but we shouldn’t joke about it all the time either
Angie is a very good character and I apologize to her for complaining about her so often in the beginning, I’ve learned from my mistakes and she is one of my favorite characters now
Himiko is a very important character and the only reason that Tenko and Angie’s deaths affected the player at all
Maki deserves more credit just in general, I personally think she should be given the title of femal support rather than Kaede, and be held in the same category as Kyoko and Chiaki. She fits the category much better than Kaede does
The trials were over complicated and confusing compared to the other games, but I don’t dislike it at all, and IMO it made the game more interesting
Kaito is one of the most realistically written characters in the franchise, and reminds me a lot of myself and people I know. Overall, he’s one of my favorite characters in the Danganronpa franchise
While I love Kirumi as a character, the reveal during her trial was unnecessary and didn’t feel like it fit within the Danganronpa universe
Miu is a very good and well written character, similar to Kaito, but a little different, I can absolutely see her being real and see aspects of myself and people I know in her
Keebo would have been better left as himself without the whole inner voice plot line, I know it’s important to the overall plot, but it kind of ruined him as a character for me
Gonta isn’t the innocent baby the fandom makes him out to be, he lacks social skills and education, but he isn’t “babey” and he isn’t completely stupid
I think that’s it, but I might come back with more thoughts on this later
