Naho Kamada Silverware Exhibition: “Slice of Silence”
July 4 — July 19
Exhibition
As the July summer sun grows increasingly radiant, a quiet corner of our shop gently immerses itself in a serene atmosphere woven from silver and brass.
We are deeply honored and thrilled to present the first solo exhibition in Taiwan for Japanese metalwork artist Naho Kamada this midsummer. With a focus akin to spiritual practice, she forges rigid metal into the gentlest, most everyday contemporary forms.
The pieces on display include a variety of daily lifestyle vessels—from sleek, minimalist spoons and subtly curved silver plates to rustic tea saucers. Each piece bears the delicate "tsuchime" (hammer eye) textures left by the repeated strikes of hammer and hand. Eschewing flashy ornamentation, the artist intentionally preserves the minute, organic asymmetries of the metal. When light catches the surface, the texture is no longer cold; instead, it refracts a matte, breathing shimmer, reminiscent of the dappled light shifting beneath the shade of a tree on a quiet afternoon.
In this bustling season, we invite you to slow down your pace and visit us to experience the grounding weight of Naho Kamada’s work in the palm of your hand. Let the warmth of the metal and the traces of time flow gently through the space. Come choose a vessel that will accompany you through the years, and softly welcome this small, mindful, and enduring poetry into your everyday life.
About the Artist
Naho Kamada (b. 1982) began her metalworking career crafting traditional Japanese tea ceremony utensils. Since launching her independent practice in 2008, her work has beautifully balanced a resilient tension with captivatingly meticulous details. Drawing inspiration from antiquities found around the world, she continues to use sterling silver and aluminum as her primary mediums to create a diverse range of vessels, tableware, and art objects.
