My buddy just published his first book a couple months ago and it is amazing! I highly recommend it to anyone into the fantasy genre. He wrote the story based on a Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) game he was planning several years ago but never got to DM. Inspirations from his real life experiences in the Marine Corps and Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) are prevalent across multiple scenes of the book that most people who are or have previously been involved in either organization would pick up on. Tolkien and D&D are clearly big inspirations for the setting of the story. I really love the book honestly. I will give fair warning though, grammar can be rough at times. Mostly due to the fact he mistakenly saved over a final draft and had to reedit nearly the whole book by memory. But beyond that, his storytelling is spot on and keeps you interested. He has a very unique storytelling method involving the higher beings of his world, creating a secondary story alongside the main one that I feel is still integral to moving everything along. I really want his book to do well, not just because he is my friend, but because I sincerely love the story! I’ve been egging him on to write a sequel and hopefully he will. That’s why I am hoping by posting about it wherever I can will get more people to read his book and share the awesomeness that he has imagined up. That way he can see this world needs more of his world. Please check it out and share the love!
