the nice thing about gsgw that i rarely see pointed out is that it is not only a work that plays with it’s narrative in such ways you couldn’t predict, it also highly encourages you to predict them. never have i ever been so interested in buildings theories, analysing character behaviours and aligning each foreshadowing with each event as i was when i was reading gsgw in ongoing. im not even a person who likes theories very much, yet gsgw builds such a safe space to wonder (because you don’t doubt the story’s abilities to fool you) that you naturally begin to question how’s the story gonna unfold next. not because it’s not finished, but because it have shown you so many examples of how each chapter takes itself seriously; the little things you tend to forget, the big things you tend to take as unimportant. gsgw tricks you into thinking that you’d have a chance of getting that one plot twist if only you connected all the dots earlier. i truly think it’s a great example of how to make a viewer invested because here i am, actually enjoying my time guessing what's the story gonna be like
