Queer Norse Deities ~Sexualities and genders

I need a space to write down what I have decided so far, I'll edit it over time when I get more suggestions or make new headcanons.

So far I have:

☆Loki: Pansexual, NB/trans/gender fluid (probably all three, maybe just one)

☆Sigyn: Demisexual, biromantic

☆Odin: Bisexual, genderqueer

☆Freyja: Demiromantic

☆Freyr: Frayromantic (pun intended)

☆Heimdallr: Bisexual, polyamorous, aromantic (allosexual), transfem?

☆Hodr: Aroace

☆Thor: Sexually straight (ally), panromantic

☆Baldr: Pansexual, phoebian (xenogender)

☆Bragi: Abrosexual

☆Frigg: Bisexual

I could still change some of them if I like something else better than the original idea, but only if I like it very much.

Note: All of these have a reason, not only vibes (well, a bit of that too). When I start posting, I'll also explain the thought process for each pick.

I'm just realising what it means when people say PG13 movies only get allowed one f-bomb and... it's a joke, right? Where I live, adults barely censor their swearing (and when they do, kids know which word is being censored). Some of our idioms have 'shit' on them and no one bats an eye when children say them. I was watching a PG7 (idk if that exists, we use a different rating system) series made by my country and a father started insulting his son with all the swear words multiple times. In fact, I think the rating was that high because a couple corpses were shown and two character talked about spicy messages/pics. And I mean, of course in movies specifically made for children they aren't swearing every five seconds, but our dub for Despicable Me 2 has Gru saying 'shit' with no censor and no one acknowledges it.

And I'm saying this as someone who has not cussed in about 6 years, the 1 f-bomb per movie rule is really absurd.

I played the demo of Sinners Maker (it's really good actually) and made a lot of miis based on my designs of the norse gods because I didn't have a better idea. In the four days the demo lets you play, they did all this:

•Loki repeatedly flirted with Sif (Sif didn't flirt back)

•Sif tried SO HARD to seduce Odin, with no results either. After she got rejected, every time Odin tried to talk she went "ew."

•Sigyn absolutely refused to even talk to Loki, no matter how many times I asked her to (this one is kinda my fault)*

•Thor and Sif talked a bit, their relationship was the lowest they could be to be considered friends.

•I'm pretty sure Loki tried to rizz some anime-obsessed girl I found at my door, maybe they would have become a couple if they had more time.

•Heimdall never showed up

Things they did that could be considered "canon behaviours":

•Almost every one hated Loki

•Loki and Odin were besties

•Loki was a whiny b**** that constantly asked me for food

Conclusion: Loki and Odin were spot-on, everyone else was stupid

*Now seriously, why did I think it would be a good idea to make Sigyn Catholic? She acted so entitled and wanted to keep distance with Loki because he was "out from her faith" (tbf I made them a literal demon)

I should play again and give the miis traits that make more sense, my apologies Sigyn fans

Since I just learned today that you have Bor, Bestla, Vili, and Ve can you please show us it. And tell us their relationship to Loki and Odin, such as if they hate them, hate one like the other, like both of them, etc. Thank you, I’m sorry if any part of this is rude

I will get to it as soon as I can, but it'll take a good while because I can't work on it right now. Also, I just have the paper sketches, and I like to make them digital before posting. That said, it would take about ten hours approx.

I finally did it! It turned out to be 12 hours instead of 10, but I did a little family tree:

Notice my atttempt at a sideburn? I just wanted to note that when facial hair is outlined, it means the person actively keeps it neat and trimmed. When it's a spiky shape is means he forgot to shave. Anyways, a little explanation of some of the details:

•Vili looks like Bor, but the hair is straighter and his eyes are blue like Bestla's. The nose is more of a mix between his parents', though it leans more towards his mother's.

•Ve looks like Bestla, with the same nose, hair texture and just a bit darker on colour (here it's gray because he's older, but he used to be blond). The eyes are Bor's, but more hazel than brown.

•Odin is more like a mix between the two. His hair type and nose and from his father, but the eye, hair and skin colour are from his mother, just a bit washed out from doing a lot of magic. Btw, Odin's ear is more of a genetic mutation that a lot of his children inherited, that's why it's considered an æsir-specific feature.

•I don't have much to say about the parents themselves, I just designed them around the traits I gave Odin. I'm disappointed that Bor's white hairs and their wrinkles aren't as visible as I thought, but it'll do.

As for their relationship towards Loki and Odin, I haven't thought about that too much. Since there's not much information about Bor, nothing stops me from saying I think he doesn't really appreciate Odin, he would have rathered any of his two had taken the throne of Asgard. Why? No idea, he just gives me that vibe. Homophobia maybe, idk.

For the brothers, it's a bit more complicated. I hadn't even considered Loki knew Odin's family, but then I remembered he travelled with at least one of them that time they couldn't cook a cow (I'm writing all of this from memory). So they know each other, but I don't think there's a great friendship between them. And for Odin, at first I thought they would get along because they killed Ymir together and all that, but there’s also this story where Odin was long for so long everyone thought him dead and his brothers took his throne and married his wife (I think it was mentioned in Lokasenna??), so that kinda breaks their trust.

Also I wanted to draw them as children but it'll take a while.

what do you think is the favorite food of each (as many as you want, actually) Norse deity?

Thanks for the ask! I had never thought of this, but I have some ideas:

Loki: spaghetti, because I think it's a really messy food (let's be honest, Loki would slurp them instead of twirling them in the fork). Also, @lokigf009 mentioned they like sweet things (I think I heard cinnamon once) and fire ball, but now that I think about it, alcohol in general (I didn't want to put drinks in this but I guess it'll do)

Sigyn: I'm thinking something warm that can be cooked in large amounts to share with her family. She's a warrior, so it should contain protein. Maybe chicken soup?

Thor: probably something with meat, like meatballs for example.

Baldr: ice-cream (sweet and everyone likes it, just like him).

Odin: I don't know the name in English, but the first thing that came to my mind is the boiled veggies my grandma used to make. Doesn't matter anyways, he often just feeds it to his wolves (idk where I read that but I'm pretty sure it happened).

Heimdallr: some dairy product? I just think he'd hate carrots, since he has a good enough vision and some people find the texture gross.

Freyja: for some reason, hard boiled eggs. Also, she'd eat mostly healthy food (I'm thinoing of avocados).

Freyr: for the sake of contrast, he now hates anything with eggs except for omelettes (my cousin is like this and I find it funny). And everything natural, no junk food.

This is what I came up with in like... five minutes. Let me know if I missed someone or if some food should be changed!

Okay, like, I know that 100 is not a big number in the grand scheme of things but... Wow. I'm so happy that there are a hundred whole people out there who are entertained enough by my nonsense to follow me, when this time last year I felt like there was no one in the world who would want me and all my weirdness. I've talked about this before but... well, a sense of belonging is difficult for me to come by, but this blog has allowed me to step outside the small world I live in and meet people whole continents away that love the same things as I do just as much as I do. It's just... it's incredible.

So thank you to everyone who is following me, I'm so glad you're all here.

Norse deities: my favourite design (part 4 of anon ask)

If I had to pick one, I think it would be Loki, because it's the one I draw the most, it has a lot of little details and has already been perfected to my liking. However, I wouldn't say I have a favourite, each design is a different world with its own quirks and details I love.

My favourite part of designing a character is using the genetics. Even if it's as simple as having three or four kinds of nose, ears, eye color, hair color and hair texture, I love playing around and figuring which traits dominate over others in each race, how children inherit traits from their parents and how siblings look related without looking the same. I even designed Bor and Bestla just to see who did Odin get each feature from, and how his brothers would inherit a different set of features. Why did I design Vili and Ve? Because I could. I don't even think I could use them fr aything, not as much as Loki's family, but it was fun to do.

Maybe I'll make a long post dedicated just to genetics, but I have the feeling it would be extremely boring.

Norse deities: usual outfit styles (part three of anon ask)

I've been thinking about this so long, but I don't know what to say. I have tried looking up styles that would fir, but I can't find anything I can see them in. I think it's because I have always lived in a small town, where there are no goths or anything remotely different from the norm, literally everyone just wears pants and t-shirt. The only kind of variation I can think of is whether women choose to wear pants or skirt on the local band's important events.

So sorry, anon, but I don't know what to answer to this question. I can say little details, like the time my only friend with a sense of fashion suggested Loki would wear Converse, but nothing more. If anyone wants to make any suggestions, commenting here or by ask, I'll put them together in another post. I'll answer the fourth question and reblog the fifth, in a couple of hours or so.
