Glain and Thomas are both taller than Santi so they call him Piccolo Niccolo (small) behind his back. Thomas simultaneously feels bad about this and finds it hilarious.

THANK YOU @wathensgotaknife
Santi, Thomas and Glain are my favourite of the set.
What do the chess pieces mean?
I like knights representing the ideal of the high garda, and the pawn how Jess sees himself. I’m not sure about the others. I feel like Thomas would be better suited to a rook, Dario to a bishop, and Khalila to the queen.
You’re welcome!! I’m glad you like them!:))
I do think they’re all pretty interchangeable like you say because I had the same idea! but the final thought process was kind of:
Wolfe (king); the soul and reason the board even exists. If the king is lost as well as the will to fight, it’s game over. The board no longer holds meaning. The king is a very vulnerable piece.
Santi and Glain (knight); defo high Garda. Tactical, thoughtful. Fighters and protectors internally and externally. Watchful eyes.
Morgan (queen); The Queens power on the board comes from being able to move in eight directions. Power and flexibility behind the scenes (also why Khalila would fit this). If the queen is lost, the game isn’t over, but it weakens things drastically/leaves some pieces more vulnerable than others. As a player, you’re willing to sacrifice a lot to keep the queen in the game.
Dario (rook); Dario was the hardest cause he could be a lot. Rooks are kind of brute force/movers—which can be essential at times. Rooks are easy to underestimate and are often forgotten/not seen as a threat. Rooks are best used when the board has had time to develop. Using them too early in the game can cause disaster. The rook represents stability, trust, and an unwavering devotion to something (also why Thomas fits this well).
Thomas and Khalila (bishop); also hard ones that could be a couple of pieces. Bishop usually represents belief, though. Represents steadfastness (why Dario could also fit this). Bishops can only move to the diagonal, but they can move as far as they want. Strongest force and wisest pieces on the board. It is extremely hard to win a game without the presence of the bishop(s). The others seem to really look up to these two for their virtuous nature. They are like the faith of the group that the others follow...and honestly, need.
Jess (pawn); yeah, this one is definitely how he sees himself. The struggle to stay consistent and balancing a certain presentation of the self. He knows that as long as he keeps a watchful eye over how he presents himself, he’s mostly unattackable. But, that’s something he really struggles with.
