Final show of 2018 in Toronto with The Sidekicks, Found Objects and Gladie.  The Sidekicks have been one of my favourite bands for a while now, their new LP is phenomenal and I can’t say enough good things about this band.  Working on LP3 has consumed most of our/my time over the last little while so this will be a nice way to celebrate the completion of the recording process.

Wayfarer LP3 recording commenced this weekend in Hamilton, Ontario at Tape Studios. We managed to finish all the drums and bass and half of the lead guitar parts for ten songs. This was the most collaborative record to date. When you’re a band of people in your mid to late twenties spread across 3 cities and in all different stages of life, just getting in the same room to play together seems like a daunting task. 

This time around though we all got on board and put more time and effort into shaping the songs rather than just trying to learn them. New studio, new methods, new member, new approaches. The absurd part about making a record is you go in trying to make something great but you know you never will. I’ve always felt that when you’re content with a record it makes you complacent. That’s why it took so long to follow up Sleep Through to the Light. I had a very specific plan, a completely thought out record from the music to the lyrics to the themes to the art to the merch. Everything was planned down to the most minute detail and I felt like we pulled it off. We did exactly what I had thought and hoped we could. It took a few years to find the holes in it, to pick apart some of my performances and to dissect the weaknesses in the songwriting. But without that we wouldn’t find ourselves here. I could have packed it in and saved everyone some time and money after that. Instead, we’re going to give it another go.

Wayfarer release "Three Winters" EP raising money for refugee family

Kitchener, Ontario’s Wayfarer has released a new 5 song EP titled Three Winters. The set is available as a pay-what-you-want download from BandCamp with a good cause attached. 50% of all proceeds from this album go towards Safaa and Feras Alkhalil, Syrian parents with four young children currently living in a refugee camp in Jordan. The money will go to a community group working to bring the Alkhalils to Hamilton, Ontario to reunite with other family members who’ve already made the journey. via Punknews.org (http://bit.ly/2erKEkv)

This is our newest release, Three Winters. It’s a five track EP recorded through the first half of 2016. It is available as of Wednesday October 19th, 2016 via Bandcamp as a pay-what-you-can digital download, and ready to stream on all major services including Spotify, Apple Music and Tidal.

50% of all proceeds generated from the download go towards Safaa and Feras Alkhalil. They’re young Syrian parents with four small children who are currently living in a refugee camp in Jordan. The rest of their family is already here in Hamilton, Ontario and they’re hoping to reunite. There’s a community group charged with caring for the family once they arrive to look after housing, integration, schooling for the children etc. they just need some help raising $25K upfront to cover sponsorship costs. If you’re at the Bandcamp page and feel like you can afford to donate a little bit just know that a portion of that money is going towards this. I’ll post updates in a couple weeks once we’ve made the first donation.

We were working on this EP for the first half of the year. We tracked most of it ourselves and got a lot of help from Greg Dawson at BWC Studios again.
