For this week's episode of The Waygook Noonas, Rebecca and Alyssa discover a small, unknown group that we're sure none of you have heard of, ATEEZ.
...What do you mean they're insanely famous and have performed at Coachella and BST Hyde Park?
Okay, so Rebecca and Alyssa are REALLY late to the game here, but you all get to benefit from that, because you'll get to see our absolute first hand reactions to performances like Bad, Wake Up, and the performances of Troublemaker and Mirotic from their fan event a few weeks back.
While this episode is available in audio-only format, I HIGHLY recommend watching the video version. Our faces say more than our words can.

Hi, my name is Rebecca and I am one half of the Waygook Noonas! I lived in South Korea from 2010-2014, working as an English teacher by day and as a professional fangirl by night. I was a Kiss Me (U-Kiss fan) through and through and loved going to performances and concerts whenever I could.
My most prized k-pop possession is probably my collection of signed U-Kiss CDs, especially the ones with extra messages written on them.
My top three favourite fangirl memories are:
1. Taking part in the on-screen audience for the Christmas episode of After School Club with Eric Nam
Eric ShowMerry Merry~ Happy Happy! Christmas~!!It is such a special day, we can't just let it pass! If you are ...1. Alone and bored at home
2. Getting a hug from Kevin Woo after the MC was super impressed that there were foreign fans at their concert and getting called up on stage.
3. Literally running into Chansung from 2pm at Haneda airport and being so starstruck that I called him Taecyeon. (Thankfully, there is no video proof of that.)
I look forward to rambling with Alyssa for way too long about stuff that happened a decade ago and I hope you all enjoy my insanity as much as I do.
Join us on Fridays at 2pm!
Hi! I'm Alyssa and I'm the other half of the Waygook Noonas. I lived in South Korea for 5 years, and got Masters of Asian Studies while living in Seoul. I was Kiss Me the whole time I lived there, as well as when I lived in Japan a few years later.
Most of my favourite K-Pop memories were when Rebecca and I would travel outside of Seoul to go see U-Kiss perform. One time, we took the bus to a small city called Gangneung to watch them perform at a festival. It was raining the whole day, and since we were the only foreigners in the whole city it seemed, the MC noticed us. Long story short, I was pulled up on the stage and ended up doing the Neverland dance, and once I was finished, I turned to see all of UKiss pretty much dogpiled at the side of the stage watching. Thank god I didn’t slip on the rainy stage!
Hello! We're Rebecca and Alyssa, and we're the Waygook Noonas.
We met while living in Japan in 2008, and then became besties when we both found ourselves in South Korea in 2010. We both thought our time in Seoul would be just one year, but our love for k-pop made one year turn into multiple years.
It's been over 10 years since we both left Korea, and we still think back on our time in Seoul during the Golden Age of K-Pop constantly, so we decided to make a podcast so we can chat about our crazy experiences as some of the few foreign K-Pop fans in Seoul at the time.
On our first episode, we chat about what brought us both to Korea and attracted us to k-pop in the first place. We've got lots of great episodes planned, so make sure you're subscribed, following our socials and tune in on Fridays at 2pm EST!
Rebecca and Alyssa are two k-pop fans who lived in South Korea during the end of the 2gen k-pop era, and they have stories to tell. Subscribe and follow along to hear about the golden age of K-pop from people who lived it as fans.
You can tune in every Friday on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts or Amazon Podcasts.
