My newest work in progresss. I’ve been really excited to make this t-shirt dress. It is super simple and took like twenty minutes to sew together. Only thing is I forgot to wash the fabric prior to starting so I’m going to wash it tomorrow before I finish the hem and stuff.

I’m also adjusting the neck and adding a dark blue ...cuff? Collar-thingy. Oh and pockets. I forgot to leave room for those yesterday so I’m going to redo that.

Picture on the left is my next project. I’ve taken quite a long break from my last project that ended up in the garbage, I wanted to wait until I actually felt like sewing again. So the pattern on the left is a vintage pattern that I bought for 25sek (~3$). I’m going to make the sleeves longer (probably 3/4) and have a regular half-circle or 3/4-circle skirt, without ruffles.

The picture on the right are two fabric samples that I received today. The fabric with lily of the valley’s on is going to be like a t-shirt dress for spring/summer. The fabric on the right I wasn’t expecting to love as much as I am. Both fabrics are really expensive compared to what I normally buy so now I’m just like 😫😫

It’s been very quiet here lately. I started making a pair of trousers that I later gave up on. I should have been more careful when selecting the fabric, I barely touched it before deciding it should be a pair of pants. As soon as I started cutting it however I realized it was way too soft and stretchy to have that “proper” look that I wanted. They’re going to look like a pair of sweatpants with a fly.

Started on a new project today. Went from picture no 1 to picture no 4 in two hours, I was kind of amazed by myself. Had to take a break though because I need to buy a longer zipper (looks like I gained more weight than I thought) and I might need to remake the top.

Good thing to remember: a pattern that works well in stretch knit might not work as well in non-stretch woven fabric.

Sweatshirt-dress is complete! I’m pleasantly surprised by how quickly I managed to get the bulk of it done, despite never having sewn raglan sleeves before and only have sewn a sweatshirt once before.

I added the hoodie, it was not included in the original pattern. I’ve never sewn a hoodie either, but it worked out quite well.

There’s something off with the fit of my trousers that I’m working on but I can’t figure out what’s wrong with them. Also the waistband is all wiggly and too large. Maybe I shouldn’t have put interfacing in it?

I finally finished my sweater yesterday, I started on it at the end of July and since then it’s been sitting in a pile on my desk making me feel bad.

My latest project is a pair of chinos, from the Ottobre 5/2018 issue. I’ve made one pair of pants before, but they were basically skin tight with a side zipper, so not nearly as challenging as these.

Yesterday I bit the bullet and made my first welt pocket. I’ve spent the past couple of weeks thinking and thinking and thinking about how they’re made, because video tutorials isn’t my thing, and like I said I basically don’t understand written pattern instructions 🤷🏼‍♀️

Anyway, it ended up going really well! I’m kind of proud of it, because it looks fairly neat. For next time I think I’d invest in some chalk or crayon so I can mark pocket opening on the fabric without having to use needles, because that made it a bit tricky.

Hi!

I’m starting another sewing blog. I’ve realized I want to post a lot more about sewing than I’m interested in having on my regular blog. So here it is.

Some background: I’ve basically decided to throw myself headfirst into sewing. I have no actual training and I mostly hate using patterns because I never understand the descriptions, but I’m working on it.
