send one for my muse’s reaction~!
“We’ve been ordered to pull back! I’m leaving!” “I’m going with you; You’ll need someone to drag your corpse home.” “I don’t want any excuses! Champions don’t whine, they WIN!” “I’ll kill you!” “You killed my father!” “Now, now. Let’s all calm down. If I slip, I might mess up her hair.” “Would you be so kind and hand over that dangerous toy you have? I could take it after I smash you all to a pulp…but, we wouldn’t want that, would we?” “There’s a good boy/girl. Always eager to please~!” “I thought it might be, but…you’re to blame for all this?!” “I can’t tell you how badly I’ve wanted this!” “You’re as blind as you were then! I’ve wanted you dead for years! “ “I won’t let you do this!” “I can’t believe it. My first kiss.” “Your blade… It did not cut deep enough.” “Stop this! Our friends are going to DIE!” “Hey, what a stroke of luck! You’re still alive!” “The enemy’s weak, but don’t drop your guard!” “Looks like we don’t have a choice!” “I can’t…go on…” “Man, what a bunch of jokers!” “Hey, not so fast!” “Witness my power!” “From my flesh and blood be healed!” “Return to chaos!” “Show no restraint!” “You must suffer more.” “I’ll carry on fighting beside you until the very end!” “I don’t have time for small fry!” “We may die if we take a stand here. But staying gives us a chance to change our destiny!“ “Prepare to die…” “The future doesn’t belong to you!” “Let’s press on, and on, and ON!“ “So that’s how it is? Giving up the sword already?” “Let’s see what you’re made of!”
“What’s taking so long, is zere somesing interesting on ze memorial or-” she followed the length of his finger to a name, rather a series of names carved in the stone. Tamera stared at one name in particular which read:
Tamera C. DelaPoire - 8 - Missing
“Nate… Zat is my name.” Of the few things she knew how to read, her name was one of them. Her name, the age at which she lost everything, and the word ‘Missing’. And just below her name were the names of her parents; next to their names was the age they were when they died and the word ‘Missing’. The fact that he’d even seen her name at all amongst the thousands here was more of a surprise to her than the fact that it was actually there. “My name, my surname is DelaPoire. It means ‘of pears’ in my language.” And the C.? It had to be her. She couldn’t think of the possibility of another Tamera with the middle name Cécile.
“But that doesn’t make any sense. You’re not missing. You’re right here!” Why would she be on a memorial if she was still here? As far as he knew, the plaque was there to pay respects to people who had died in a disaster which had happened long ago -- or at least, that was what he could decipher from the title. But that would mean...
“Tam-- Tam you haven’t been dead this whole time, have you? Y-you’re not actually, like, a ghost?” It was the only thing that made sense. Why else would her name be on the memorial?
He reached out to poke her shoulder just to check -- no, his hand didn’t go straight through her, she was there. “Okay. Maybe not. Tamera Of Pears.”
❛ x ☼ x ;
❝ Wait, wait — this? Every day? ❞ Huh.
❝ Weird — so do I. ❞
This was... starting to get very strange. The mention of mirrors was starting to settle in. This guy really did look a lot like him. And it couldn’t be Zoroark playing a prank on him; the fox couldn’t talk.
“Okay, really though, who are you? ‘Cuz this is, like, not as funny anymore.”
❛ x ☼ x ;
❝ Yeah, I guess — ❞
( Except the similarities are too many to be coincidence — )
❝ It’s almost kinda like — looking in a mirror — ? ❞
“Yeah...” Weird. But he wasn’t putting too much thought into it. Yet.
“Well, someone’s gotta change! An’ this is what I wear every day, so I ain’t volunteering.”
❛ x ☼ x ;
He’s just gonna blink & rub his eyes a few times & pretend what he’s seeing is some sort of illusion.
“Hey, you look just like me! I guess my excellent taste in fashion is finally being noticed!”
Someone looks tired. Did he just get up? Maybe that’s why his hair looks even less brushed than usual.
Nate cannot say the word ‘parallelogram’. Instead, he calls the shape a ‘parlegram’.
It had been a long time since her last visit to Slateport. A year. Two years? Probably more. It wasn’t a place she visited often. She didn’t see much point. But Nate had wanted to come, so she figured a visit couldn’t hurt. A lot had changed since her last visit. Or had it? She couldn’t remember what it used to look like. Yeah. Definitely more than two years. But the large, stone wall on the East end by the Oceanic Museum? That was definitely new. And on it were hundreds of names, thousands maybe; the names of people who died or went missing in the chaos eight and a half years earlier.
“Zat wasn’t ‘ere ze last time I visited. Do you want to just go inside ze Museum? Nate?”
So many names. So many letters. They all seemed to mix together in front of him as if he was staring into an endless void of alphabet soup--
“Hm? Oh! Right, the Museum, yes.” That was one of the biggest attractions in Slateport other than the market, after all. Normally it wouldn’t have been much to his interest, but it was a museum about the ocean, and that made all the difference. He was about to lead them on their way to the entrance of the museum, when he cast another brief glance at the memorial. There was one name that stood out among all the Hoenn ones, mostly because it was one he recognised.
“Oh hey, look!” He pointed to the name he’d noticed. “There’s someone else called Tamera here. Guess your name must be pretty popular in Hoenn, huh?” He couldn’t even begin to read the last name; like everything else engraved on the stone wall, it just looked like a jumble of letters.

She watched him spray the little Pokemon with the medicine, trying to collect herself. It wasn’t that she didn’t have any thumbs to hold it (she had talons that would work the same as a hand), but she wouldn’t be able to hold it properly with all the shaking. She felt horrible, and it showed in all parts of her. Ears and tail were down, wings slumped, and the only thing she could do about her hands shaking was plant them firmly into the ground. She also knew she wasn’t the only one in a bad state; she could feel Nate’s fears through his energy, and she only felt worse about the whole thing.
The medicine, to her shock and utmost relief, worked wonders to the little one. Axen stirred and cracked his eyes open, moving slowly as the Full Restore healed him. Finally he sat up, bright-eyed and squeaking again. Aura let out a choked sound and the Axew immediately hopped up to hug his trainer, not fazed at all with her appearance. The amount of purring coming out from the both of them was unbelievable, and there were a few ‘thank you, thank you’’s coming out of Aura’s mouth. Axen then turned to give the other trainer a happy smile, squeaking in thanks.
The little dragon’s attention switching to him was enough to cause Nate to take a step back, ending up ankle-deep in the marsh once more, but the Pokémon didn’t look particularly hostile... if anything, it looked like it was trying to say thank you. “Uh... you’re welcome?” His words came out slightly higher-pitched than he meant them to, but that was all he could really offer in response.
Well, Axen was okay now... and that was the reason he’d come out here after all. Samurott watched silently from a few metres away, not feeling the need to take part in whatever was going on here but standing by just in case either of the dragon-esque creatures decided to try anything. He had enough experience to know his trainer was rather useless around dragons.
“So, uh...” Nate shuffled his feet, causing an irritating and uncomfortable sloshing of water. His eyes darted around, as if trying to find something to focus on but not wanting to make eye contact. “Since the... axew is okay now-- I’ll just, uh... I’ll be going now...”
gentletouchclosedpalm started following you
“Please don’t hurt me...”
“You may have more credentials under your belt, but we’ll still give you a good fight!”
“You think so, huh? You’re gonna have to prove it!”
“Maybe you should visit Johto sometime and I can challenge you with my actual League team! They’re a pretty tough bunch!”
“Really? I reckon we could still wipe the floor with you!”
“Lettuce… and ketchup…” She stared at the food in her hands oddly for a moment. Well she wasn’t picky and it didn’t sound poisonous, so down the hatch it went.
“Well? What do you think?”
