The economy of brushstrokes! The variety in skin tone!!! AAHHH
I want so badly to read more about this artist and his work and it’s very difficult to find much. Here’s an article that discusses these pictures in particular, though it leaves a lot of questions. Not sure why a German artist was painting portraits of allied troupes.
