Can I ask you why you like Robert so much? Not in a mean way, but rather because I'm curious :)
of course you can :) ask me anything about it really, i'll love to reply. i'll write a sort of long answer if you don't mind
a lot of people after reading The Evil We Love became Waywood fans, but majorly towards Michael's side. i went for Robert's side instead! Michael being my second favorite, i adored Robert's feels. soon i found myself adoring every little thing that forms his character
the fandom say many things about him that are twisted or exaggerated or simply not true, but when i first read the books i had zero to no contact with the international fandom, so other people's opinions never grew on me, i just had the actual book Robert to judge, and he is such a interesting and sad character, Robert's pain over his story with Michael broke my heart, and then his full life story was breaking my heart. when you get to actually know his character, you see how many different shades he has, and you just can't describe him by some traits ou by one or two particular things he did.
i was captivated by Robert's story with Michael the same way anyone gets heartbroken over any tragic love story, but Waywood quickly grew into my all time favorite fictional pairing, the more i think about them, more i see all that's beautiful in them, and more Robert enchants me with all his traits
my passion por Robert and Michael also saved me from a really dark time of my life, and i'm really grateful for it, now i dedicated years of my life into having them as the best thing to ever happen to me, just like many people claim to having fictional stories or artists or anything else as life-savers
i really think Robert is awesome. he can look like a "coward" for the things he did, but while he has an extremely low self-steem, when he aknowledges his wrong doings it's genuine, not just out of self-hate and self-pity. he's very understanding about other people, he's smart and... he tries his best to see things as they are, and his mistakes are ... as genuine as they can be i guess
i find so easy to relate to Robert and find everything about him real. all the the self-doubt, the regrets, the skepticism, the true love without "i would ruin my life or die for you," (because "i would ruin my life and die for you" is not the only way people can truly love each other). the way his disgrace is a mix of other people's doings and his own doings... everything is so complex, interesting and real.
i think i could talk dreamily about him all day, but i hope this was the answer you were looking for âş
