Riding his bike was a daily thing for Will. He biked to school, to home, to friendsâ houses, the arcade, wherever he wished to go so long as he was home by curfew time. Today he had been racing his friend, Dustin, and since the two were so caught up in their fun, Will hadnât noticed the rock up ahead. It collided with his front tire, tipping the boy forwards and causing him to land on his front.Â
Dustin halted his bike with a screech and turned back to face his friend before calling out if he was all right.Â
Willâs knee was scraped and while none of his clothes were torn thankfully, they did get some dirt on them. âIâm fine, really.â Rolling up his pant leg, Will inspected his knee and he saw a small cut and it bled a thin line of blood. His nose scrunched up in disdain. âAw, man, momâs gonna kill me!â Of course he meant this figuratively since she often worried about him and even worse, she babied him at times which he really didnât like, despite knowing her heart was in the right place. But the silver lining in all of this was the cut wasnât in an obvious place so he could easily hide this from her.
Stefan had just fed, he should be fine. Actually, he was fine. Heâd been off human blood for decades now and he had Lexi to thank for that. He was doing pretty well, even with the cravings he was experiencing. All the had to do was write in his journal when he was having the urges to â well, rip someones head off. ( No wonder why he has so many ). Heâs walking out of the forest and itâs not quite dark yet as his eyes met with the almost sunset sun.Â
The vampire is making his way towards the street so he can make it home until he spots a two kids. One was on the floor and it concerned him, was he hurt? Was something or someone after them? Cautiously, he walks up to the two of them, at first not smelling the blood. âHey um, are you two okay?â He asked, kneeling down to reach the eye level of the one who was on the ground. Seconds later his nose catches the smell, the sweet sweet smell of the blood. He quickly stood back up, turning his head as he felt his veins coming through. No, Stefan. No. Not now, not this kid. He squeezes his eyes shut until he feels his face convert back to normal and he turns to face the boys again. âYou should get that cut covered.â
âIâm fine.â Will rolled down his pant leg and stood up. This guy seemed to have come out of nowhere. But Will assumed he had most likely come in from the woods nearby.Â
The sky was painted in a gradient of orange and pink. It looked like a sherbet with clouds. Will picked his bike off of the ground. He noticed the veins beneath the manâs eyes became visible for a moment before disappearing. Furrowing his brows, he questioned if what he saw was real and further more, it was confusing to see him shut his eyes for a moment. âAre you okay?â Despite his apparent concern, he was a bit afraid. His hands gripped the handles of his bike as if itâd somehow protect him.Â
