“ah ...” what a strange question. the easy out would be to admit that he doesn’t know, but it’s not quite as simple as that. denial would be an obvious lie, but it’s not like confessing would be entirely true either. he knows the correct answer. he knows what he’s supposed to say, but he thinks of nic alone. he thinks of himself alone. who is he without nic? nic might not need him - he knows that and yet, there’s something strange in his heart he can’t quite pinpoint. he doesn’t know. frankly, he doesn’t want to know. he’s afraid. he’s afraid more than anything.

he thinks of nic in the dark, in the light - in all kinds of light. nic isn’t something or someone to own. there will be nobody to own any semblance of his soul and worick knows that. perhaps, in a different life things might’ve been different, but he’ll never deny the way he loves nic when worick thinks nobody else is listening. “i need him in a way i can’texplain,” he’ll admit that much. despite everything that’s happened, he can’t imagine where he’d be without him. “that guy is all kinds of bad idea, you know. i’d be askin’ for trouble if i loved nic.” well. it’s not like trouble’s ever stopped him before. he’ll be his fool until the end.
