welcome to the Bugpipers roleplay blog! the Bugpipers are cut characters from Silksong, and their sprite files are still in the game! I named them and gave them personalities, so they’re basically OCs at this point.

the bug on the left with the four eyes is Noma. she’s shy and reserved, but really sweet. she/her

the middle bug with the fluffy brown fur is the leader of the group, Usiro. he’s very outgoing and friendly, but often wary of strangers. he/him

last but certainly not least, the bug on the right is Renati. they’re friendly and love to help out, but they’re hyper and very clumsy. they/them

An extremely large moth entered bellhart, their form was pillar-like and they could barely fit through the door into bellhart. They approached the pipers.

Greetings young bugs, do you know of anyone with any farmer knowledge in this humble town? You see I am trying to farm myself but I do not know of any non-poisonous crops in shellwood that aren't cannabis, a crop that has proven to be not very nutritious to me. Do you know anyone?

Shellwood is a nice place to forage. For native species, I suggest going for the plums and cattertails.

I need to explain a bit more. I don't usually have rosaries as I do not believe in material possession, I picked up these rosaries specifically to give to whoever would help me. These rosaries were specifically set aside for you, have them.

*She stretches, her wings spreading out as well. She appears to be unaware of the state of her home outside of the abnormal silence. Unaware of the plot that the hooded vessel she had serviced had much less any other occurrences in Bellhart*

On the way back she suddenly felt the shivers going down her spine. Something terrifying was getting closer to the town, and it definitely wasn't the Hooded Vessel...

*Her antenna twitch as another yawn escapes her*

I do not like this... I'd best close up shop until this... whatever this is... passes.

I'd rather not lose my entire business that I put together with my own paws...

*She turns to head back into her bellhome and lock the door behind her before going to reorganize the mild mess from the Hooded Vessel's order. She notices an odd certificate... stating something about some... "Pharloomblr Games"..? She has no memories of the event but ah well, it'd spruce up the walls considering they were rather bare aside from a shelf of small spools and a few vials of dyes*

"Mmh... What else should've I expected..." He says when he notices that the citizens are closing their bellhomes. The only bugs that don't seem to be afraid of him are pilgrims, but they're just resting before continuing their path. He understood that they were not local, so he called out to the three bugs trying to leave. "Hey! You three! Can you tell me what is this place? Is it the Bellhart I heard about? Who runs this place?"

The vessel returns to Bellhart with happy struts, the Veil, it had worked! It finds its messenger dead by the bench, a crowd of unhappy residents gathered around.

"Democracy. Unity. Salvation." the mystical stranger says as it walks through the masses of worried bugs.

"That is all I ask for!" the vessel speaks louder, drowning the whispers. It's showtime now.

"I was born unwanted, unloved! A child of gods?! No, barely even a tool! Have you people not yet realized, the gods don't love you?!" the vessel picks up its messenger, clear signs of Silk in its shell. The vessel shows it off.

"This is how I found him. A husk, suffocated by string! This is the holy reward you pilgrims seek! This is all there is at the mercy of those Higher Beings! Their pretentious title show their ego, they want to believe they are better than us!"

The mystical stranger opens its satchel and brings out its greatest achievement, the Veil, a dark grey Dreamnail infused with the fragment of a spell ensconcing memories and the remaining part of a defeated Void God; the final living part of the Lament of Extinction.

The vessel raises it aloft. The cold grey overrides the warm brass of the bells around.

"With this, the gods will steer us no longer! With this, the gods will fall! With this, the gods will rue the day they chose to enthrall us!"

"Will you stand with me?

It is certainly interesting… but is there truth to their claims? How can they fight gods?

Th’ vessel seems pretty confident. They’re part Wyrm, so they really could be able t’ stand against ‘em…

Say we were to join forces with them. What would we even be able to do? We have no experience with fighting. We are simply musicians.

After passing through the Shellwood, the beetle brought the entire wagon filled with the pieces for the Emporium's stall as well as the available wares and personal belongings. He strolled into Bellhart proper to look for the marketplace.

There, they set up the stall and place the sign for the Emporium of Important Items from Faraway. On the side is an extra one specifically for Hermes's delivery services.

He doesn't know if the new markings would look strange to the bugs here or if there would be anyone who understood them but it might attract some attention.

The beetle sits behind the counter and waits to see if anyone wants to stop by.

muse of the moss mothers here. i need to call out some bugs for what i called the “the blue stuff under the sink” arc.

@baby-bell-beastling… the catalyst for the arc and main star and center of the story, really good springboard for the travel to yarnaby and OUGH watching bappie slowly succumb to her deathbleachification, seeing her thoughts as her body fails to keep it out of her and having her completely taken over in the end… feels bad man, but incredible storytelling.

@skull-tyrant marr is not only just a great character but had some good moments here too: seeing mozs and kirr away as they embark, babysitting @twisted-bud who themself was a fine player, wrangling the increasingly-antsy beasts and greeting the moss mothers as they return to bone bottom in shame.

characters like @sister-splinter-spectacular, @lastprinceofverdania or @we-pipers-three didn’t have much to offer to the greater arc but to me especially it gave a real sense of progression: passing by all these blogs i’ve seen along the path really felt like i was traveling and seeing various people throughout the path… it seldom takes any more than one interaction on their part but just that can really help.

@moorwing-official had the big action-y climax of the arc, the stalking followed by the fight was fun even if i didn’t get to use the edits i had in mind for it (which… well such unpredictability is the fruit of dice-based combat i suppose). planning it was great and overall just making their otherwise goofy depiction of moorwing prove itself threatening… with a bit of angst at the end as a treat, with it getting helplessly trapped under some bridge debris and reliving the trauma of when it was an abused attack animal of the citadel.

@greatest-bellhart-doctor again didn’t really do that much in the grand scheme partially because she wasn’t there when mozs and kirr arrived, but the note was perfect to create the shaggy-dog-story tragedy of the end… here’s hoping your prepared for the plasmium child on your lawn when you get home.

just an amazing effort from everyone which all culminated into an unforgettable experience for me, i really, REALLY liked doing this arc so i wish to know if ya’ll liked it too.

i love this town!
