MSRB Plates: The Most Fun A Girl Can Have With Semi-solid Media
Gel-preserving fun!
Who says science can't be super duper fun???? Using a 3d printer is AWESOME! We made custom gel combs for an assay.
Reducing sugar assay in action! (Sorry about the beeping! That was the timer to stop the boiling, but had to get a quick clip of them boiling away!)
Setting up and performing a reducing sugar assay (using 3,6-dinitrosalicylic acid). Can you spot the colour change?
We teamed up with the Long Lab for some Drosophila melanogastar and Pseudomonas aeruginosa fun.
fun with fridge magnets anyone?
reorg'd the microbe-space, Weadgie style
dry ice fun
E. coli and Salmonella isolates on Congo Red plates! The plates tell us if the isolates are expressing cellulose and curli (a protein). Pink colonies mean cellulose is present, red is curli and cellulose, brown is curli and white is neither component. This plate has all the colours! Very exciting.
Calcofluor plates under UV *oooo exppolysaccharide fluorscence*
Protein purification fun
just a few competent E. coli cells
who says you can't run six gels at once?
