Ah, rockets. Slightly more artful than guns but only just barely. At least their destruction was more absolute—there was no ducking and dodging from something with such raw power as missiles. Although they remained a human’s attempt at bottling chaos, it was a respectable attempt.
Almost.
They made contact with said Dark Amorphous Entity, exploding upon impact with flawless form and function. Fire danced around the form, consuming the body just as the fire had mere moments ago. No scream resounded from the creature.
Thereafter the attack, the smoke that surrounded Mephiles shrouded him in such a manner that seemed almost as though they drew to him. As if seeking their master’s presence, it clumped around him and blocked any damage from view. For a moment that lasted so long that it no doubt became uncomfortable for the robot, there was complete and utter silence. True silence. Nothing could be heard from the creature of darkness—not the shift of feet against the ashen floor, nor the sound of a body falling limp against the floor.
Finally, however, there was a laugh. A dim, but menacing laugh. When the darkness lifted, Mephiles stood just as he had been the entire time: resilient, whole, and mocking. The mere fact that he remained standing was an act of defiance against Omega’s very being.
"I had forgotten just how amusing you could be, Omega." Now, he spoke.
Was it seconds? Minutes? Hours? Omega watched uneasily as dust and smoke shrouded his target from view. The cloud was obscuring any sign of success or failure. Of damage or obliteration. It was simply too quiet. The eerie silence creeping upon Omega's nervous receptors. This was not a favorable position to find himself in. He hated having to wait to see results. He abhorred not being able to see what he had wrought, with such frightful brutality, as he thought it to be. Then, there was the uncertainty that the Dark Amorphous Entity could survive his attacks.
Then, there was an echoing sound, that grated upon Omega's audio receptors as though it were nails on a chalkboard. The sound of futility. Of triumph belonging to the other party. He had lost another skirmish.
Anger boiled into rage. Rage bubbled into a blistering fury. How dare the Dark Amorphous Entity continue to defy him! To go so far as to laugh and mock his superior firepower. Though it had certainly proved it's endurance, the other had displayed nothing to prove that it could take any sort of offensive stance! It just stood. It's very presence, and wholeness, searing itself into Omega's mind. A challenge. A risky one, but a challenge nonetheless.
Omega positioned himself in a stance more geared towards intimidation, as he spread apart his legs, and hunched over slightly, arms held to his torso. Glaring the best that he could with no features to display his burning distaste. The Dark Amorphous Entity was teasing him. Declaring that he was entertainment. That was something Omega was supposed to do with his inferiors or to make fun of his cohorts. How dare this thing take this from him! The satisfaction of declaring their encounter as amusing, and ultimately not worth time at all! To decimate whatever pride the enemy had left!
Omega could stand it no longer. He was not going to wait the long minutes to prepare and fire his beam cannon. He wanted to end this now. The Dark Amorphous Entity had had it's fun. It would face obliteration. So, Omega did what any enraged animal would have, and charged forwards. Arms flung out and ready to grapple his adversary upon contact. He would crush this thing like the insect it could be compared to- Small, and hard to eradicate, but annoying nonetheless.
