HEY TUMBLR ROWING COMMUNITY
I’m looking for some new blogs to follow! reblog this and I’ll check out your blog :) doesn’t necessarily have to be rowing-themed, just want to connect to more rowers & crewmates!! ((feel free to shoot me a message as well- I love meeting new people))
When there’s new rowing gear
How to Tell it’s Almost Halloween…
…when you spend most of your life in a boat and have lost all concept of time.
1) We are practicing Hooch line ups. Everyday is another lineup. It’s been a year since you bowed a boat. But we are practicing Hooch lineups so you don’t question it.
2) It rains all day. The rain stops at sundown. Red sky at night. Rowers’ delight. The clouds are bleeding.
3) Fog on the river. No one knows what sort of debris slips past the hull. You suspect the coxswain is psychic. It’s the only reasonable explanation for why the boat still has a skeg. Again, you don’t question it. You don’t want to make the coxswain angry. You just do as she says.
4) The city lights reflect on the water. Everything else is black. You feel like you’re flying, teetering on the edge of chaos. Don’t follow the lights.
5) Tower city is lit up orange. It doesn’t look like a pumpkin, but the sentiment is appreciated.
6) A boat rows by and the rowers have on masks. It’s either the high schoolers or the river spirits. You don’t recognize the boat or the oars, but it is probably the high schoolers. They are fast.
7) The river is full of leaves. When the sun shines, it’s like rowing through fire. The river is a million shades of red, orange, and gold.
8) When docking, Coach tells you to take it wide around the dead deer floating mid-river, so you avoid the worst of the log jam. You don’t question where the deer came from. This is not a first. Two seat puts on the pressure and takes it wide.

Rower logic:
Don’t have pockets? Just shove it in your spandex. Water bottle. Phone. Keys. Earbuds. Wrenches. Extra pair of socks. I don’t care. Stuff the whole boat in there.

Have you seen this?
Holy smokes, thanks for tagging me. I would have loved to be part of this *.*
Season start of rowing. My baby hands are taking the brunt of it.
Don’t bother looking at the other boats. They are bugs on your windshield.

Any others have to share the waters with another college team?
