Y’all are always pro-life until it comes time to help the disadvantaged mothers and fathers who now have to somehow pay for extra mouth, or protecting them from the adoption/foster care system, the brown kids being separated from their parents at the border, homeless youth, the vast majority of whom are LGBT, all the kids who are illiterate, starving, and being abused. Where’s all your care while you stand in judgement over women who choose something you wouldn’t personally do? Hypocrite.

This may shock you, but some pro life people help the poor, are against the human rights violations at the border, help the homeless, love the LGBT, and protect children. 

For example, I’m Catholic. Catholic Charities does a lot of really good work throughout the world. And have you heard about the Catholic religious getting arrested at the border for protests? 

Does it make you feel better to think that we must stand against you in all cases? That we MUST hate, because otherwise how would you justify disagreeing with us when we ask you not to harm young humans? 

I’m not judging you. I’m just disagreeing with you. I have heard your arguments for ten years, they have not changed, and I continue to hope that you  and those like you come around.

People say that we place fetus rights above women's rights. The truth is that the mother was born and therefore cannot deny that right to an innocent child.

Mm I’m not really sure I follow your logic. Are you saying that abortion is wrong bc only those who have had their right to life respected can take it away from a child? (In the “I have noticed that those who are for abortion have all been born” sense?)

I would say that even if you have had your rights stripped from you, it doesn’t give you the right to infringe upon another. Even someone who has had abuse heaped upon them can’t abuse another.

You’re right — people say “you give fetus’ more rights than women!” Even though women ALSO have the right not to be killed. I would also say that you’re right in that there’s no one against or for abortion who is at risk of being killed by it. That’s why it’s so important to speak up for the helpless!

although i do agree with many of your statements on birth control, you are aware of how vital it is for some women who wish to have sex with their partners (inside marriage to remove controversy over this example), but have health problems that can/will cause failed pregnancies if they do get pregnant? cause although there are condoms and whatnot, they don’t always work and those women need that assurance (that and rape is unfortunately a risk, no matter how safe of a community you’re in)

Ultimately, I do believe a person can be FOR birth control AND pro life. But I also think that a rise in birth control leads to a rise in unplanned pregnancies because all birth control has a failure rate. That doesn’t mean you need to be against it, just something to consider. Unplanned pregnancies don’t have to mean abortion.

(I’m against birth control for religious reasons, and I can explain why I think no birth control is best for our souls and our lives, but it’s not really relevant to abortion.)

How could you be a girl, and yet anti-abortion? How could you hate your own gender?

Simple; I am a woman and I’m against abortion. I’ll go deeper into that first question, but first, I’d like to address the second one.

You might think that the two questions above are the same, but it reminds me of a John Mulaney bit when a friend asked him if he saw Hitler walking down the street he’d kill him.

So anyway, I don’t hate women and I really don’t understand why you’d think that. Normally I wouldn’t waste my time explaining myself to some anon hate who probably blocked me right after sending this ask, BUT this is an important topic to discuss.

I am a 20-year-old woman; one of the older Gen Z kids. Do you want to know what society has told me before I even went through puberty? That getting pregnant is the worst thing that can happen to you. Even in the case of rape, it’s terrible, yes, but even worse if you get pregnant. Like? What the fuck???

I had terrible chronic migraines when I was 13-16. So bad that I had to go to the ER a couple times to get stronger pain medication to make them go away. When I switched neurologists to get better care, you know what one of the first things I was asked? “Are you taking any birth control?”

I was barely 15. I was a freshman in high school. My head hurt so bad all the time that I had to miss school a lot and my grades suffered badly. When I finally get a glimmer of hope for switching to a renowned neurologist to finally get some medical relief, a guy with a standing rolling desk asks me if I’m on birth control.

And when I said no, he very rudely told me “You should be, it’s better for you. I personally recommend–” and he starts listing birth control pill brands. He kept talking over me when I kept trying to tell him “No, I’m not interested.” It got to the point when I was almost in tears because my head hurt, I felt like puking, I was exhausted and hungry, the wait time to even get in that examination room was an hour, and this walking beanpole with boyband hair wanted to put me on some pill simply because I was a teenage girl.

Finally, my mom had to tell him, “You need to get out of here.” and another “Get out,” when he tried to get one last word in.

(My migraines had nothing to do with my period cycle or even my hormones, so don’t even come at me with that shit.)

Feeding birth control to young girls is commonplace, unfortunately. Before our bodies are even done growing, we’re told to take pills that change our natural bodily autonomy and function:

The hormonal contraceptive usually stops the body from ovulating. Hormonal contraceptives also change the cervical mucus to make it difficult for the sperm to go through the cervix and find an egg. Hormonal contraceptives can also prevent pregnancy by changing the lining of the womb so it’s unlikely the fertilized egg will be implanted.

That reduces the number of menstrual periods from 13 periods a year to only four a year. That means a woman who takes this pill will menstruate only once each season.

Why does the birth control industry want to change the way women’s bodies work? Why do they want to sterilize us so we can’t get pregnant? They say they’re “protecting” us, but what are they protecting us from? A baby?? How are they doing this? Not by educating us on relationships, how to have a healthy relationship and how to avoid a bad one, but by changing the natural way our bodies work. And you know who’s benefiting from this? If men can be assured that a woman will not get pregnant, it’s easier for them to just smash and dash. No responsibility, no attachment, just a way to get off. Women become even more like objects. There are no downsides for men. For them, women can be a living fleshlight; free for them to fuck repeatedly without pesky responsibility.

Telling women they are slaves of their bodies unless they sterilize themselves with pills and rings and mesh is a toxic mentality. You know who can’t get pregnant overall? Men. Today’s culture tells women they cannot do everything man can do and be without becoming like-man by eliminating their fertility.

But pills, condoms, Planned Parenthood–they don’t protect us from more severe effects like trauma, abusive relationships, depression, self-hatred, suicide, being treated as though we’re disposable, and more.

I’m going to include some links and information below since this is a hard subject for me to talk about. One last statement: science proves the life inside the womb is indeed living and human. You cannot argue with scientific fact. Pretending that the unborn human is neither human nor alive, is wrong. Think of the slaves of the old south, and racism that still persists, claiming that black people were only 3/5 of a whole human being. Remember also the complete disregard of Jewish lives in the Holocaust, and the anti-semitism that still persists.

People since the beginning of time have labeled certain groups as less than human to justify persecuting them. Everyone knows that history repeats itself. Look around. Open your eyes. Unborn humans are still human: Science Fact.

But the part that jumped out to me was how even the women who still chose to terminate talked about the ultrasound as giving them more context and information, which seems to dovetail pretty well with the informed consent arguments anti-abortion people make for ultrasound laws.

It’s also notable that whether the women chose to continue their pregnancies or abort, they thought it was a good idea for clinics to offer the option of an ultrasound. I’ve seen pro-choice articles call laws that require *offering* an ultrasound–not mandating viewing, just offering the option–an “abortion restriction,” which seems ludicrous to me. How is having to *offer* more information a hurdle to a procedure? We wouldn’t describe any other informed consent laws that way.
