Today is the centennial of the Armenian, Assyrian, and Greek Genocides. There was an event and a march in downtown Chicago, and it was so filled with emotion. Finally, I was with other people who cared. It hurts my soul to think that not only do some people not care that this happened, but that people even deny the deaths of more than 1.5 million people. It was nice to be with so many people that felt like me, that understood how deeply it hurts to have such a horrible event in our history brushed off. It feels like a wound, where the scab is constantly ripped off. But no matter how much pain we go through, no matter how much we are put through, we will live through it and we will continue to live. Turkey tried to wipe us out, but Turkey failed. We will be here for a very long time.
