7 essential life skills to teach your kids

I'm reading this great book "Mind in the Making" by Ellen Galinsky.  She framed the skills you need to pass on to your kids are below.  I'm paraphrasing to my way of understanding.

Focus & self-control

Perspective taking: understanding situations through the eyes of others.

Communicating: not just talking and listening, but know what you want to get across and understand how you might be understood by others.

Making connections: sorting out patterns from piles of stuffs.

critical thinking: "the ongoing search for valid and reliable knowledge to guide beliefs, decisions, and actions."

Taking on challenges: those who do, do better in school and life.

self-directed, engaged learning: essential skill to reach their potentials in this the fast-changing modern world.

As I'm reading this list again, i'm thinking that these skills are not just for kids but for us also.  You should get the book to get more details and precise teachings.
