Hey Tumblr meet Quito
Boleto de Ida Desde Nobel Rose
We are simultaneously so close and so far from a Ring 3 I am going insane
choose your fighter this holiday season
top 5 dog sports?
This one may be a hot take but I love anything that requires an immense amount of training for partnership.
My *personal* joy in sports is derived from seeing teams communicating so clearly it’s obvious they’re both enjoying what they’re doing and you can tell how much work went into that clarity.
So probably -
- Ringsports (lumping them so I can have more re variety on this list)
- FCI Obedience
- Agility
- Heelwork to Music
- Freestyle Disc
top 5 dog breeds?
All but number 1 are constantly changing but here be go -
1) Malinois
surprising absolutely no one. They’re unmatched in every way for me personally. I love everything about them and they meet my brand of obsessive neuroticism bar for bar.
2) Mini Bull Terrier
I’ve loved every client I’ve had and my foster who was 50% MBT was an absolute doll. I could absolutely see myself living with one and enjoying every minute of it. I do think I’m a terrier person at heart and I just haven’t taken the plunge yet. (pictured is my 50MBT/50Jagd former foster)
3) Smooth Fox Terrier
I would honestly probably go for one of these before a MBT unless I could find another sport mix. I absolutely love how equally charismatic and nonchalant everyone I’ve met has been. They’re exactly the size I like in my little dogs too. (picture stolen from Google)
4) Scottish Deerhound
I’ve met more and more of these at racing events and man have they been growing on me. I always thought a borzoi or a wolfhound would be my first BIG dog but when I’m ready to stop traveling so much right now these guys are at the top of my list.
5) Brussels Griffon
I’ve wanted a Brussels since before I got Qatar and that wish still remains true. I love their dispositions and huge personalities, but I haven’t been able to locate a breeder who I could whole heartedly ethically support. It’s a breed riddled with health issues and maybe one day I could find a unicorn but right now it’s just a dream.

Top 5 dog toys
in no particular order -
- Chuck it’s entire line of indoor toys.
no squeaker, no stuffing, and light enough to be thrown around the house by the dogs and nothing gets broken.
- Legacy K9 Gear Barrel Tugs
the BEST handles that are actually comfy to hold while playing tug and they’re small enough to fit in a training vest
- Pupscicle
I thought these were overrated for so long but being able to pre-prep as many frozen ones as I want (we keep a drawer of 20-30 on the ready at all times) AND they’re dishwasher safe AND they can be used with regular kibble or their shelf stable premades during travel has made me completely abandoned all our other stuffed enrichment toys
- West Paw Rowdies
The squeakers on these die really fast which I love because after that they just become around the house toys. They’re easy to wash, withstand a decent amount of dog damage, and have very minimal stuffing so if they do meet their end it’s easy clean up
- Squishy Face Flirt pole!
Qatars favorite toy in the whole world. My favorite to work on impulsivity with client dogs. AND a useful tool in SO much bitesport training. Cake breaks about one a year but I won’t stop getting new ones because they’re so dang versatile
put “top 5” anything in my ask and i will answer ok go
In an effort to not be a hypocrite about nagging my friends to post more training content, here’s what Cake and I did today…
In the French Ring stopped attack the dog must halt their attack, mid-action, within 2 meters of biting the decoy. The presentation of this attack is identical to a normal face attack so the dog cannot anticipate being called off.
Most people try to call at the 2 meter line, but judging that distance from across the field is NOT easy.
Once we set foundations for this we try not to play with it too frequently as it can affect the intensity of entries.
So we practice the full picture maybe once or twice a year, and maintain the strength of our whistle behavior in outside of this. We pulled out the full exercises last weekend and it’s still holding together well!
The popularity tax on breed quality in US based Malinois is making the search for my future dog just depressing
current object guard work. still teaching her she can “pull” me into the object with her to keep biting. Hoping that builds value and awareness of the object when on the bite. Still enforcing if she loses contact she needs to return.
Not being too technical about when she’s coming off right now as long as she’s touching the object. I need to clarify when to bite but i’m waiting till we get to work with a real decoy because I know I want to use arousal to teach it and I can’t manage her and be the decoy for something like that right now. I like that she’s thinking though!
