FLYNN/LUCY. Delaney needs somebody she can show the ropes to
I donât know what youâre talking about, late? Iâm clearly doing this at the correct time. Anyways, Delaneyâs younger brother:Â
Name: Kalin. Yes, Kalin. Lucy and Flynn fought real hard over it cause Flynn wanted his dadâs name and Lucy was then like âwell if itâs gonna be Edward it should be John!â And then he was born and they were both like âhe is clearly not an Edward or a Johnâ. And Aiden pointed out that they really should have a less âstandardâ name, to match Delaney. So it was Kalin.Â
General Appearance: Kalin takes after his dad more than his mother. Heâs blonde but has more blue in his eyes than green, and his nose is more Morrill than Allman. Growing up he was a bit chubby and didnât go through his growth spurt until late, which made him the shortest member of his family for an uncomfortably long time (Delaney liked to tease him about it, calling him Short Stack).Â
At fifteen, he suddenly shot up, lost his baby fat and turned lean and muscley and started to really look more like Flynn. It was the shy smile, and the awkward hair pushing off his forehead that really got to people. That and the boxing. Kalin started boxing young, but it wasnât until he got tall that it started to become a big thing.Â
Now he usually has some kind of bruise from training, and heâs broken his nose once or twice. Heâs solid and steady, and a little bit awkward, making him attractive to girls in a way he doesnât know quite what to do with. Â
Personality:Â Being the baby of the family made things tough for Kalin. While Delaney was off pulling pranks and yelling at her parents, Kal was more of a people pleaser. He wanted his parents to be proud of him â the reason he took up boxing was to be more like his dad. People always seemed to not quite see him in the background of things.Â
Kalin was always the one who could calm his mother down, could talk his sister around to not making such a big deal about causing problems for the family, and running to get things for Flynn to punch his way out of anger. To most of his family, Kalin was an anomaly, Lucy could never understand where her son got the pacifist gene, the one that made him so gentle and calm seeming.Â
The thing was, Kalin wasnât calm, he was just quieter than the rest of his family. He liked to placate them, not liking the anger and yelling around him. Often he would leave the house when people started yelling, heading to his aunt Graceâs house where he could drink beer with her and pretend everything was all right.Â
Of course, he wasnât great at feelings either. Kalin had a tendency to explode and angry talk at people. There were definitely times in his family when he would talk over people to tell them to âshut the fuck up and sit down and stop yellingâ.Â
Despite this, Kalin was generally a cheerful, loving boy. He wasnât as good at pranks at his sister, but Delaney could certainly drag him along to help with her ideas. He loved to laugh and was always ready with a smile. And one he started boxing, he became much more open and better at managing his anger.Â
Special Talents: A people pleaser at heart, Kalin learned to box at an early age, for his dad. Kalin was always willing to get up in the morning to run and lift weights, and as he grew older and started winning, he definitely started letting his dad live vicariously through the ups and downs of being a champion boxer. His mother did not like it, and was constantly worrying over him. She didnât want Kalin to sublimate his own wants and needs, but Kalin was actually very happy being a boxer. It let him vent his frustrations in a healthy way while also giving him a direction. Plus as he moved along, he got to start teaching other boxers, and that he really liked.Â
Of course, with two mutant parents and a sister with mutant abilities, he was going to get one himself. At first it wasnât obvious what Kalin had gotten, but slowly it became obvious that Kalin was an empath. He absorbed the emotions around him and felt like they were his own, explaining his childhood far too well. As he got older it evolved into emotional manipulation, making him clearly the black sheep of the family. An Allman/Morrill child who could handle emotions was too strange! Luckily, he couldnât really handle his own, so it saved the whole family from casting him out.
Who they like better:Â Flynn. Kalin knows exactly how to handle his father. That being said, he knows exactly how to handle his mother too. So maybe the real answer is his sister.Â
Who they take after more: Definitely Flynn. Thereâs a bunch of Lucy in there, with his liking to make people comfortable and self deprecation all over, but Kalin is Flynnâs boy all the way through.Â
Personal Head canon:Â When Kalin retires from professional boxing, at the top of his field, he and his dad start a gym where they train the next generation together. Lucy manages the money and Delaney mocks them all, but actually is pretty good at marketing, turning the gym into a family business, which is really all Kalin wanted.Â
