Thank You Letter -Loida
Dear Loida,
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to learn from the Enderun Team. You gave me tasks that are foreign to me and the time to learn how to do them. Your tasks allowed me to build trust with the others. Thank you for being the start of the journey that is my internship.
Best regards,
Ahmos
Thank You Letter - Paula
Dear Paula,
Thank you for being the first person to befriend me in work. At the start of my internship I was very stiff and awkward due to the new environment. Working with you was refreshing and it helped me open up to the others. Thank you for being yourself and I wish you luck with your future work.
Best regards,
Ahmos
Thank You Letter - Maridonne
Dear Maridonne,
Thank you for always being there to help me when I was confused. During my internship, I was confused about a lot of things. Mainly because it’s my first-time experiencing work. But you were always there to clarify things and that fact gave me peace of mind. I appreciate our support and I hope you continue being a positive influence to others.
Best regards,
Ahmos
Thank You Letter - Ariadne
Dear Ariadne,
Thank you for supporting me during the internship. If you weren’t there during both LeadX and GrowSocial2019, I would have not performed as well as I did. Thank you for everything and good luck with your future endeavors.
Best regards,
Ahmos

Letter to Future Interns
My name is Ahmos El Roudany. I worked as an intern in the Digital Transformation Department in Enderun. During my Internship I faced a lot of challenges and I hope that my experience will help you face your hurdles. At the beginning, you will most likely be unsure about a lot of things. That is ok. As long as you ask help from your superiors when you are unsure then you will be fine. Try making friends with your department. You will be working with them after all and having friends in your workplace can remove a lot of stress in the duration of your internship. Your tasks may not be big or that of great importance at first. However, it is only because your supervisors are testing what your capabilities are. Sometimes you will be given small tasks like delivering documents. It might sound like a hassle but I would like you to think of it as a short break to either wake you up or give you a short break from your current task. You may be given tasks that you find boring. When that happens, I want you to think of it as your way of helping out the team and remind yourself why this task is important. Because with their experience it is more efficient for them to work on something that only they can do. But after slowly proving your worth, you will find yourself working on more challenging tasks unlike before. It will be tiring both physically and mentally. But keep doing your best in order to maximize this opportunity to learn. Then before you know it, you will be used to your work environment. Good luck with your internship and I hope that you learn many things.

Ahmos El Roudany – B.S.E MAJOR CLASS OF 2020
Enderun Colleges, Taguig – Supervised by Loida Flojo: Director, Enderun Extention
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My position on paper says that I am an intern working in the Digital Transformation department. However, I generally worked with the Enderun Extension and sometimes the Enderun Admission team. I would be assigned tasks by my supervisor. However, my supervisor is the Director of the Enderun Extension team which makes her a very busy person. So when she is not around to give me tasks, I would ask the others if they have a task for me to accomplish. My supervisor would give me difficult and long tasks. The difficulty comes from the fact that this is my first time working and doing these tasks. My supervisor would also often give me minimal instructions which leads to me learning as I work.
My first task was to do a SWOT analysis on the coworking space that is ran by Enderun Extension. I finished within a day and a half. There were a lot of terms that I was not familiar with. I learned SWOT from my classes in Enderun so it wasn’t difficult. I worked in our Atrium since I haven’t had my orientation yet. After this task I finally entered the office. The office had an odd layout. There were empty desks that get filled out by whoever needs one. I would see someone I never met before use a desk and be gone the next day. I could also borrow the desks of the directors as long since they’re often out and busy. At first, I was shy to borrow them but eventually I got over it since I needed their phones for my tasks.
My supervisor gave me the task to do competition checks on other schools. I was told which data I needed to gain from the competition. I was also asked to inquire about what certificates did the other schools had for all levels. This was difficult. I would use a false persona to get the information but I can only get information about a level once or twice since it would be odd if I inquired about All levels. Sometimes I get lucky and the person on the other side would tell me everything or transfer me to the right people. However, there were a lot of people who did not know much and would transfer me to wrong departments. The constant transferring of the calls massively increased the time I spent per school.
There were a couple of tasks that took a long time to finish. One of them was that I had to input information from business cards into a google sheets file. The main difficulty was knowing which country the person is from. I eventually learned the difference between Korean, Chinese, and Japanese. For example, Korean letters seem to have a lot of “o” connected to the lines. When I can’t figure out the person’s country, I ask my superior. I respected her even more since she would just glance at the card and tell me the country easily. Another task was to organize her podium/drawer. There were so many documents such as contracts and letters. Not only did I have to sort them in an orderly way, I had to input all contracts into a Google Sheet. It hasn’t been organized for around 6 years so my back was painful for a while. I was satisfied when it was all organized though.
My greatest accomplishment was to have a 19% closing rate with sales calls. This was mainly because I had an amazing team leader. When he initially demonstrated how to call, he was full of energy and emotion. He learned what the customer was interested in and assured them that we had that. Then after the call he gave me tips on how to talk with the person on the other side of the call. We became eventually became friends and he was the main reason why I worked as hard as I did. Every time I think I could do better; I consult with him. Which is why I think I did well with my tasks.
Luckily my course taught me how to work with Excel. Creating formulas helped me multiple times during the course of my internship. One data that I had to get was the semester breaks of each school. There was data from past competition checks but it was un-organized. If they start at June then their break is around December and so on. Using the “If and Then” formula, I cleared out an entire column within 5-10 minutes.
During my first day I was very stiff and awkward. I would always knock before entering the office. I didn’t have a set desk and I did not know what to do most of the time. But during my last day I was working with a team to organize a conference about influencing and I was teaching the new comers about what I learned like how to talk to potential clients and operate the google sheets file. I felt great when I left. Because I know that I earned a place for myself and that I was very helpful to my superiors.
This internship has affected my goals for the future. I was initially planning on starting a business as soon as I finish graduating. However, after working in Enderun I learned that there are so many things that I do not know. I now plan to work first to gain experience then eventually start a business when I know that I am ready.
During my internship I discovered that I disliked doing telephone calls. It requires me to be energetic and full of emotions when I am usually not. There was a time where I was having difficulties outside of work but I still had to call like I usually do which was not only difficult but extremely inefficient. I wouldn’t close anyone that day and would waste the leads. Surprisingly though, the tasks like “bring these documents/items to this office” gave me a peace of mind. I had a reason to go take a walk and get some fresh air. It also woke me when I get sleepy from monotonous work in Excel/Google Sheets. I also discovered how important coffee is. It would supply me enough energy for the morning.

Week 9 of Internship
This was my last week in internship. I got the notice that I completed my hours on week 8. But I decided to stay half a week more so that it’s not too short of a notice. There was another person who joined the team. So aside from sales calls, I had to pass over what I manage, learned, and techniques. It was tough explaining my understanding of things to the new member. I’m not really good at explaining things so it took a while. However, I managed to tell him everything before I left. Lastly, I ate my last lunch with my superior who offered me to work part time. I wanted to take it. However, due to the requirements I have to submit and the business plan that I have to create from scratch, I don’t think I have enough time to fully commit on a part time job. So I said my goodbyes and finished my internship. Over all I enjoyed my time there. It was tough and busy, but I it was fun learning with the positive role models I had there.

Week 8 of Internship
My task this week was to call past conference attendees, These past attendees get a special rate. My list had 800+ people. I had a bit of anxiety when I first saw how many I had to call. But I called them either way. Out of 300+ calls, 0 registered. These were hard leads so me and my superiors didn’t expect much. But having 0 was pretty rough. The biggest challenge was keeping them in the call. They would often say they are not interested immediately or would simply close the call. I also sent emails to the ones who said that they will think about it. I also added a counter to google sheets so that my superior would have an easier time reporting our numbers.

Week 7 of Internship
Week 7 of my internship was generally calling those who were interested in our conference. These people click on a link/ad on Facebook which prompts them to give us contact information. In more details, my tasks are to call them and get them to register. I have to learn and understand our conference and be able to pitch to the potential customer. To properly pitch, I have to first ask questions to gain information about them. Then after learning what interests them about the event I pitch what he have that aligns with what they like. The challenge was adding emotion to my voice. After a while I learned to simply befriend the person I’m talking to and always ask if they have the time to talk first. Lastly, my side task is to keep track on who registered and send them a confirmation email after they have signed up.

Week 6 of Internship
This week my main task was to help with an upcoming conference. I started by getting briefed by the person in charge. I don’t know his official title but he basically manages all the teams working on the conference. We had leads coming through Facebook and we had to call them and get them to register for the conference. So the person in charge, who will now be named L for convenience, did the first 3 calls to show me how to do it. He displayed great emotion while talking and asked all the questions required as well as used words like “perfect” and “I’m interested in you”. He wrote down the information he got on a paper instead of typing it on the laptop. After that, I had to call to so I went back to the office and called around 20+ people. out of 20 I got 4 to register. I was pretty happy about it since it is my first time. Though there was a lot of room for improvement. First of all my voice was monotone. It may have been a friendly tone but it didn’t change the entire call. Second was I wasn’t entirely sure about the speakers. I didn’t know anyone among them. Even after reading their summary I still couldn’t pitch them properly. The next day came and I didn’t do well this time. I only managed to register one. It’s mainly because I was calling for the sake of calling. After doing it so many times, I got tired. I was given feedback from my supervisor about the calls and she pointed out my flaws. I am glad she did so because it woke me up. I spent my time looking up how to do a sales call online. Learned from this Youtuber called Daniel. But sadly I got sick with a sore throat the next day. then after that I had a runny nose so didn’t sound great still. Then over the weekend I caught another sickness. Yes that was it. My week was pretty short. I did go to work even though I was sick, but my work was the same as before. It’s just that I forgot what I did specifically.

Week 5 of Internship
This week was pretty slow. On Monday, Tuesday, and Friday didn’t have much tasks to do. There were some, but I do not remember them. However, on Wednesday and Thursday I was assigned as a Floor Manager for a conference. That’s right, ya boy made it big yo. My responsibility was to make sure that we follow the schedule, the speakers will sign a release form for their talk, present them their gifts, help the MIS (Tech support) when issues arise, and in general be there to support the event in case something is needed or something happens. I woke up at 4 am in order to come in early. I got lost while trying to reach the venue. When I arrived I got briefed by the supervisor of the event. Then I memorized the list of speakers. The program started off schedule because the first speaker faced an accident. Luckily, he wasn’t hurt. We started the program and the lavaliere that the speaker had was not good. The sound was off or distorted. We swapped his lavaliere with a microphone and the audio is now better. I messed up the timing because I didn’t write down the time that the speaker started. So I flashed him 10 minutes left when he had a lot more. He didn’t stop after flashing the “One minute left” card so I think it’s fine. I just hope he didn’t have a bad time. We had some technical difficulties with some of the speakers. Since most of them give their presentation only when they arrive, we don’t have time to test for issues. On day two, everyone had to wait for around 5 minutes because the laptop could not recognize the HDMI/Video cable (or whatever you call it). We changed the cable with 4 others but it still didn’t work. So eventually we decided to move the file to a USB and transfer it to another laptop. Another issue we had was that the venue next to us suddenly had some form of musical event. So the music was disrupting the speakers. The frequent problem we had was the clicker. Every now and then the clicker would stop working. But over all it had a small effect on the program. To wrap it up, I learned a lot from this event. Like how to work under pressure, get friendly with co-workers, how to manage a schedule, as well as how an event like this would work. Although my role was scary, I am proud that even though I made a few mistakes, I learned on the spot and managed to do well.
