With Shadow & Bone released in under a week, I sincerely hope this fandom is welcoming to newcomers who first learn about our beloved Crows, Grisha, Ravkans & assorted other friends from the show.

However, I've seen that sort of thing before, and just in case, I want to be clear: Weekly Grisha Prompts welcomes all Grishaverse fans.

There may be spoilers, fic summaries that mention pairings or events, etc., so be warned of that. And I will definitely encourage you to read the books. (Especially Six of Crows! Read Six of Crows.) But show'verse fics are welcome. If anyone is made to feel uncomfortable participating, please let me know. Weekly Grisha Prompts is for everyone!

Prompt #22

With apologies for an unscheduled hiatus, welcome back to Weekly Grisha Prompts! For prompt #22...

"I never realized you could do that!"

For this week's prompt, write a fic in which a character's hidden talent is discovered. Whether discovered by someone else or by themselves is up to you! Is Kaz Brekker discovering his ability to count cards? Or is a dealer realizing he can't trust this weird-haired pipsqueak at the tables? Maybe part of Nikolai's new Triumvirate is surprised to learn the King of Ravka really can juggle, or Inej reveals an unexpectedly quick and blade-sharp sense of humor.

Mid-week Roundup

Crows, Cats, and Lizards by Sarai The sleepover seemed like a good idea... several years into the happily ever after, the next generation of Crows gets into trouble at Wylan's house. Or maybe it was the cat's fault. Cats are wily creatures! Quote:  "Be seated, please, both of you,” from First Test by Tamora Pierce

And for Prompt #21...

The Train Job by Sarai Kaz has a plan. (Kaz always has a plan.) He'll need Inej's deadly silence and Jesper's wild energy. They're going to need a Heartrender and an explosives expert, too. Worst of all, they'll need luck on their side. The Crows are back from Ravka, but the havoc they've brought with them is more than they left behind. When Kaz Brekker decides to make a big, loud departure from the usual rules of keeping crime to the Barrel or keeping it quiet, he'd better know what he's doing or it'll be all of their necks.

Prompt #21 was initially meant to conclude on 7/10. I’d like to postpone that to 7/17, because next week is Wesper Week and I’m going to be focusing there. If anyone objects, please let me know and I’ll post a new prompt this Sunday!

A key to what? Who was the last to see it, and how will they hide when Kaz finds out? What’s in bloom, and is anyone allergic to it? Whose favorite food, and what is it? All up to you!

Mid-week Roundup

This week’s roundup highlights one fic from Prompt #18! One Bed and Twelve Kinds of Trouble by Sarai That's the way with Kaz: coming back from one job, already on another. When the Crows stop at an inn for the night, Jesper shares a room--with only one bed!--with Wylan. He has mixed feelings about the demo man and Kaz isn't helping. It's one night. How much can one night change, anyway?

Welcome to Prompt #19! This week’s prompt is…

A funeral

Whose funeral is it? How did they die? Does it really matter if you can steal a mourner’s purse without getting caught?

Of course, no one should ever have to kill off a character they love, and that is by no means the intention here! The funeral in question could mean major character death. But it could be a grandparent’s funeral or that of an old enemy, or an occasion to pose as caterers and lift kruge from pockets.

Will hatchets be buried or swords fallen upon? And who carries a sword these days, anyway?!

Prompt #19

Welcome to Prompt #19! This week’s prompt is...

A funeral.

That’s it! Whose funeral? How did they die? Does it even matter?

I would never ask anyone to kill off their favorite character, or even a canon character at all. All of these characters have deaths in their pasts to mourn. They might attend an acquaintance’s funeral out of politeness, a grandparent’s funeral with reasonable solemnity. They might watch an enemy’s body shoved onto the Reaper’s Barge or pose as caterers to fleece mourners when a Councilman dies.

Will characters bury the hatchet or fall on their swords? (Who even carries a sword these days?!)

Welcome to Prompt #18! This week's prompt is a classic.

...and there was only one bed!

Need I say more?

In this classic situation, two characters have to share a room... with only one bed! Maybe these two don't like each other, maybe there's unresolved sexual tension, maybe this couple is in an argument. Maybe one of them is Kaz Brekker. Whatever the situation, they don't want to share. Who takes the floor, or the couch? Will they share, and if so will they have a fight for the blankets?

I can't wait to see what pillowy problems and quilted conundrums this prompt will produce!

Prompt #17

Welcome to Prompt #17! This week’s prompt is...

Sharing food from a street vendor

And that’s it! Why has your character visited a street vendor? Are they in a hurry, on a job? Is it a festival? Who is this food being shared with? A big brother, a best friend, the girl whose laugh he’d get drunk on every night? Then again, who said it was shared with a human? There are plenty of lonely people and hungry dogs in the Grishaverse, and Sankt Mattheus would certainly approve!

I can’t wait to see what flavorful fics, palatable pairings, and scrumptious settings these fics will take!

Mid-week Roundup!

Who wants to play a game called “guess who can give this blog the attention it deserves now that finals are over”? ...everyone wins, yes, it’s me, prompts will be back to weekly regularity once more and thank you all who stuck with it!

Mid-week Roundup

Welcome to the mid-week roundup! This week we have one fic to highlight from Prompt #14: amnesia!

Before, Before by Sarai Wylan wakes up to a curiously empty house and a handsome, kind new tutor. He isn't sure what's going on, only that something is amiss even as he spends the morning with this strange newcomer.

Jesper knows exactly what's going on. It's happened before. All he needs to do is keep the merchling calm and ideally happy until his memory returns.

Everything will be fine as long as Jesper sticks to the plan and Wylan doesn't ask questions...

Prompt #15, a vocabulary-based drabble or double-drabble prompt, is open until this Saturday, May 22. As always, if you are working on a fic but need an extension, please let me know. (And I will draw your attention to one of the vocab words, callipygian, a very fancy word for, "has a nice bottom". I didn't know that word existed but I'm glad it does.)
