LCS Week 6 - Halfway There
With week 5, half of the spring split has passed, and currently I am positioned at first place in my fantasy league, approximately 12 points over second place. Week 5 was thus a good success for me, and hopefully week 6 will be an even bigger oneâŠ
H2K Ryu is back this week, after a hiatus of a few weeks and is projected for 40 points, and though 76.7% of the leagues own him, only 46.5% of them are starting him. H2K is first in the standings, tied with G2, so it might be a good idea to start the Korean mid-laner. Ryu will face VIT and OG this week, both of which H2K have previously defeated.
My opponent this week is team Tambaland, of mTamba1. mTamba1 is currently 6th in our eight man league, though he has the least points scored in total. Although he has some good players on his roster, quite a few of his star picks havenât yet gone off this split such as Soaz and Hjarnan, both of whom, along with most of his team, have a tough week ahead of them. On the other hand, my team is starting to pick up great pace, with an amazing performance by Rekkles, Reignover, and Vizicsacsi in the previous week, which I hope they donât fall from. Each of them have atleast one team against them that are bottom 3 in their respective league this week, which should hopefully help me extend my lead.
Itâs time to talk about sleeper picks once again. Last week I talked about TLâs Dardoch, and G2âs Emperor. Though G2 lost one game, and Emperor didnât really have that good a score in that game, he still managed to come back in the second game to make a total of around 29 points in the week, which showed his ability to get back on his feet after a bad showing. Dardoch too didnât have an amazing week, in fact it was his worst week this split. However, you have to give the guy some credit, as even in his worst week, he managed to make 24 points, which is commendable, and I hope he learns from his defeats and climbs on up from here.
The two players I would like to talk briefly about for this week, are UOLâs Steeleback, and FOXâs Keith.
UOL as a team has been doing amazing this split, and its ADC Steeleback has been performing highly well and greater than expectations. In fact Steeleback is currently the highest point scorer in the EU LCS, and 5th highest with the EU and NA LCS combined, with 204.82 points in 5 weeks. Thatâs an average of approximately 40 points per week, with the most recent two weeks being his best. Currently, Steeleback is owned by 59.3% of the leagues, however he is just being started in 44.2% of the leagues. Next week he is playing against GIA and VIT, both of whom UOL defeated in the first half of the split. UOL is tied with VIT in the standings, so hopefully a close game with them should result in bloody team fights and a lot of points, like the first time these two teams clashed. As for GIA, they are currently tied at the bottom of the table, and have not yet found their synergy and should be an easy win with hopefully a lot of points for the carries. Therefore, if Steeleback is still open in your league, he is a very good player to pick up and start in your team at the moment.
Keith is a player who has always performed well on stage as a plug and play ADC, having played on TSM and TL as a substitute before this split. This split however, Keith has the chance to prove his skills as the starting ADC of FOX. Unfortunately for him, rules and regulations caused FOX to loose most of its starting roster for most of the split up till now, and thus till week 4 FOX was not doing too well. Week 5 however, saw a renewed FOX, as finally its entire roster got to step on the LCS stage together once again after week 1, and managed to handily get a 2W - 0L week. A united FOX, saw a renewed Keith, who has scored more than 30 points each week he has played with the actual FOX line-up, who are hopefully here now to stay. Keith therefore, is just getting started and has great potential to grow. He is just owned by 34.0% of the leagues, and is stating in only 14.7% of them. Week 6 Keith plays against TL and TIP, both of whom he has scored high points against, with 24.77 against TIP (against whom they won), and 28.22 against TL (against whom they lost). Though Keith might be a risky pick to take up and start in your team, it is a bet that could pay off well, and this week is as best a time as ever to take that risk.
Thatâs enough for this post, good luck on the fantasy fields of justice.
