While doing my film poster assignment I was researching for the type and I found this cool idea of expressive typography. It is an art form where text is highly visual; actually, type becomes an image there. Letters are not just abstract notions, carriers of meaning; they are also real, physical shapes.

Food photography

Food photography is one of the most challenging types of photography as you have to create the « canvas » instead of shooting a ready ladscape or portrait. You have to build the canvas layer by layer and get the perfect balance of art and taste.

Despite my « love » for Romanian traditional music, I would definitely attend this event, seeing a poster like this. Usually traditional events in Romania have very conservative posters.

For my poster, I used circles as shapes and I wanted to add type on it. So basically what you need to do is: create a shape and then create a path on the shape and add type on the path. Make sure that the path is symetrical with the shape.

Colors influence

Have you noticed that lately, green is everywhere, in grocery shops, cafes and even fast food places?

The businesses now use green as a marketing strategy as it is the ambassador of organic and environmentally friendly products. They use the green color to provide trust in their products. Green stimulates harmony and peace in our brains and this encourages us to be more decisive in our choice. 

I have noticed the green color wave in France firstly, every organic product would have a green package and people would be so crazy about “bio products”.

It is unbelievable that a color can make the decision for us.

This is my first photoshop image.

When I show this to my friends, they aren’t that impressed, but they don’t know that it’s only the beggining 😂.

On this « piece of art » I tried to include 4 contrast elements. We can notice value contrast, that is to say, the color changes gradually with each shape.

The shape contrast is represented by the three different shapes.

The size contrast is the different size of the shapes.

Finally, the orientation element can be noticed in the triangle.

The rule was to make 4 different documents. I am so bad at following the rules.

I have chosen this illustration because it represents the country I am coming from, MOLDOVA. The word in this illustration means “LUCK” and it is one of the most used words in my country. We use it to say “hi” and “cheers”. It is believed that it brings luck if you use it. Also, the small details in the body of flowers and leaves represent the illustrations on our national costume.

The contrast between the black background and the multi colored letters creates a hierarchy and highlights the “LUCK”.
