Husband woke me early this morning to share this text from our son who's studying in Belgium this semester. "Brussels airport was attacked this morning. Two bombs went off while one went off on the subway under an EU officials building. I'm safe. Just wanted to let you guys know I'm alright. I love you" What would your reaction be? Beyond human understanding, mine was not worry. Something Jonnae's leukemia and passing, Austin's deployment and Lydia's coming out have taught me...Worry for my children is a waste. There is much more this mother has no say or control over, than outcomes I do. Life and its vast terrain presents many an opportunity to put serenity prayer into actual practice. Truly, each surprising experience that could have prompted this parent's fear, provoked her faith instead. And that's how I'm responding to today's 'surprise' as well. #LifeSurpriseParty #loveandgratitudeprevail #BestLifeProject #EllenContest (at Louisville International Airport)
