What is WEIRD WORKS?

WEIRD WORKS is an artist collective featuring artists who specialize in make cute and strange indie games with a sense of style and flair. Here we plan to host exclusive updates, make events, and promote all of our games so that they get all the attention they deserve! There are a handful of games on this list, which include:

MUSESTRUCK: A 2D Platformer RPG where you play as Journey and Quinn, as they explore a mysterious magical world known as Negative Space, to try and make it back home.

Hi ,! It's been a month since the Mesmalie demo. I've had a lot of fun watching people's playthroughs, and I've also been really busy working on the next few parts! So I figured I'd talk about it. For housekeeping, the usual links before getting into it:

Over the last month, I first focused on updating the demo. I added a couple new interactions that were lacking in the initial release, and fixed some bugs in the process. Then, I got to work designing & implementing stuff related to the Second Session. In Mesmalie, you practice your Magick in 3 Sessions,,,, each with its own little gameplay gimmick. In the First Session (featured in the demo), this is the little rhythm section at the end.

So, let me give quick updates on Sessions #2 and #3:

Session 2: Playable from beginning to end in a very rough state! Mesmer needs proper art, there's a bunch of dialogue still to be written, and certain player actions need to be accounted for. However, it already has more scenes than the first session, and is already quite a bit longer! I'm particularly excited for certain Mesmer moments in this one :)

Session 3: This part of the game took a while to figure out, as in, the story was already known, but the gameplay was unclear. However, I have implemented a rough prototype for the main gameplay gimmick here, and I'm looking forward to work on it proper once I'm done with Session 2!

Everything beyond: I have made decent progress writing the final parts of the game, and even made a couple more music tracks for these scenes. Every time that I think the soundtrack is complete, I end up with more music somehow...

That's about all I have to say on the state of the game for this first status update. Overall, August has been the most productive month I've had in a long, long time... Last few things to mention before signing off ,! I've heard people pronounce the game's name as either Mesmalie or Mesmalie. Uhe ,,, I mean, Mesma-lee, or Mesma-lie. I tend to say Mesma-lee myself, but both work & both are ok,!!!! Just something I wanted to have written down, Word of God etc Then, I've been considering making a small Discord server for Mesmalie chatter (& also a hub for my other projects), but part of me is wary of making anything official in that capacity & I also think it'd be better to wait closer to the game's release, as there'd be more to talk about then. Though, it might be fun for faster intermittent updates... Not sure, hopefully I'll have made up my mind on this before the next status update ! Lastly, I'd like to give a huge shoutout to SerenityDev! He was one of the first people to stream Mesmalie, but I've been following him for a while before that. I really enjoy the vibe of his streams, and he's working on some pretty cool game stuff too! Please look at this really really really really cool model of Mesmer that he made
