Hi ,! The demo of my current project, MESMALIE, is out now. This post will act as a general masterpost with links and a bit of QnA.

WHAT IS MESMALIE ,???
MESMALIE is an occult visual novel / point & click adventure in which you attempt to tame your newfound Magickal ability under the guidance of a small Witches' coven in the middle of nowhere. Heed Mesmer's aloof teachings, strengthen your Magick, or just go home,,,
Questions , and Answers ,,,
How long will the full game be?
The demo is at least 1/4 of the full game. The full game will contain three sessions (the First Session from the demo + 2 others), plus a whole bunch of inbetween moments, and different routes. The next 2 Sessions are longer than the first, too.
When will the game be done?
I can't give an exact date as of writing, but I do believe I can finish this game in a year, lest things pop up in real life. That's not a promise though,!!!, I'll of course communicate a potential release as I get further in development.
How much is done beyond the demo?
As of August 2, 2025, I have most of the bigger chunks of dialogue written, and all important bits planned out (narratively and gameplay-wise). The "full" soundtrack is complete (read: all important scenes are scored, but I may make more small songs for specific moments). Game-wise, I've began properly implementing the Second Session and its main gameplay gimmick.
Where can I get the game when it's done?
The full game will likely be on both Steam and Itch when it's done! In fact, I'm in the process of setting up a Steam page, where the demo will be available as well, so please do check in later if you're interested in wishlisting it!
That should be it ,,,, If you liked the demo and you do want to support me while I work on the rest, definitely follow my Bluesky & spread word around! Also consider purchasing the Demo soundtrack on Bandcamp :)
Thank you very much for showing interest in Mesmalie. I hope it won't be too long until you'll be able to reunite with Mesmer and her coven,,, !
Hi! I was curious about Mirphie's name- given that Mesmer and Malady's named are based on their abilities. is Mirphie a play on Morphine (found in poppies) or something else? Or is it just a cute name?
Something about it just felt like a very earthly name, like "Yeah, Mirphie, the gardener, that fits perfectly"
Apparently "murphy" is a term related to potatoes which I only learned recently, so that seems to have worked out
Hey I love your game thanks for making it holy cow.
A quick question: are any of the events in this game random? I found.......... something interesting in the kitchen and didn't know if it was just lucky or if it was SOMETHING ELSE.
Thanks for being awesome and making beautiful art!
I think the minigames are the only things in the game with some RNG
finished Mesmalie earlier today. came into it knowing absolutely nothing except the title, and I didn't know even what sort of broad tone to expect until pretty far in. turns out it was a tremendously moving experience! and from a design & narrative perspective I was really impressed with the execution of the nonstop ways u get to make little choices for how willing you and the player character are to keep going. the game's whole style, both on the audio-visual level and design level, is really standout and memorable
I've only known her for a day and Mesmer means so much to me already
thank you a lot for making this game. gonna be thinking about it for a while
I'm very glad my game resonates with people, thank you for writing!!!
i think people get so used to their own creative work that they forget how amazing it is so i’m making this post as a reminder You are the only person capable of making art the exact way you make it. nobody else on earth can do that. there are always going to be those little habits and intricacies and details that simply cannot be replicated whether it’s in writing or painting or textiles and you make life all the better for it i love my friends’ art i love art from strangers im trying to love my own art I LOVE YOU!!! THE PERSON READING THIS!!!!!!! YOU ARE A PART OF THIS WORLD NEVER EVER STOP MAKING THINGS THAT CAN IMPACT IT
(This game is really good and you should play it if you haven't already)
I had a lot of fun figuring out how to translate the game's cast into my artstyle. The artwork of the game is pretty heavily stylized so there's a lot of features that are up to interpretation.
(Took a bit of work though, as evidenced by each of them taking four tries.)
Weirdly enough, I had the easiest time translating Malady and the MC, purely because they're both drawn with noses in their og artwork.
I feel like I'm on the edge of falling into "same-face syndrome", so this was a strangely helpful exercise of sorts.
Good morning/noon/evening! Guess which robot-and-flower pair just finished with Mesmalie !
Forgive me for not following your work earlier, I wanted to be COMPLETELY spoiler-free - And it did not disappoint! Really, this'll be stuck in my head for a LONG time after this. (Don't worry, there will be art made ! )
Truly, thank you for such an impeccable game - And an impeccable character in Mesmer. I care about her more than I care about most things, is that a problem?
Thanks for playing!! I'm glad she could worm herself into your brain :)
(Apologies if this was asked before and I missed the answer) What was the seed that led to Mesmalie's creation? Was Mesmer a character that predates the game? And, if possible, can you discuss how she or the story/game changed overtime?
Thank you in advance! I love your work.
Mesmer as a character predates Mesmalie by quite a bit, I created her as a secondary main character for a (now scrapped) RPG I wanted to make back in 2021. Then I touched up her design around early 2024 with the idea of making a few comics or something. A few months later I was messing around with an idea in Gamemaker and somehow that led to Mesmalie happening...
The story also changed quite a bit several times during the creation of Mesmalie. I think it'd be fun to write more about this in the future
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKIN THIS GAME HOLY SMOKESS
theres so much wes like about it but to name a few things that really stand out:
- the GET OUT option always being there. jus ominous an always leadin to somethin
- how dangerously potent your MAGICK is. like knowin that youre just a click away from annihilating anYthing was a wild feelin
- the pixel wiggle graphics are vEry charming and somethin wes wanna use for our game
- the change of medium from point and click to top down was really fun!!
- malady,,,,,,, save me,,,, save me malady,,,,,,,
only lil critique i could note is in a few places (the deep forest, specially when its raining, and the credits), the game starts to lag some. nothing unplayable but it was noticeable espec when mesmer was talking (the beeps in her voice got farther apart). it could also jus be my computer bein a cringe naenae baby but jus so it is noted
otherwise FANTASTIC experience and woNderful story and i will be takING NOTES in my own gamemakin process (which of u are chill with me complete stranger autisming about that to you dm me or somethin. i will Tell You About my Disassembled Bird Womens)
THANK U AGAIN FOR MAKIN MESMALIE YIPPIEEEE
Thank you for enjoying my game :) I'm glad I'm able to inspire others with making games
I know Mesmer has a personal connection to the piano Diagetically and quite a lot of her music prominently features them but have you considered what instruments/motifs would represent the other characters?
If so, what would you, or already have, assign to Malady, Mirphie, and Mc? (Buddy too if you're feeling generous)
