First show in three years!!
The reunited We Know, Plato! just finished playing our first live show in three plus years. It's also probably the last show we will play as a 4-piece. Would've been a five piece but our newest member couldn't make the show this go around.
We played roughly an hour-long set featuring 11 songs. It was fun but unfortunately it was on a Wednesday at noon while the whole rest of the world was working. We are planning some more shows coming up soon during normal show hours and with proper advertising.
We did film the entire show so we should have at least a few songs from that video posted real soon. Keep an eye out for that!
Rehearsing the last half of "Solitary Never Sleeps". Rehearsal #2.
Full Band Practice #2
This past Thursday the entire band got together for a second time to run through and do a crash course re-learning of all of our songs. It's a marathon run to say the least. Chris Westfall, our newest member of the band; the poor guy has to learn all 18 of our songs from scratch in a relatively short time and is going to be attempting to switch between rhythm guitar and additional keyboards/synth parts. He's coming along amazingly well though. Honestly, we are all kind of starting from square 1 again anyway. I think Westfall and I have the most work cut out for us in that I'm trading off some of my old rhythm guitar parts to him and adding some new guitar parts for me to play as well as showing him some of the keyboard/synth parts I wrote for the demos that I would like to see brought into the mix for the live show(s). Really though, this is a fun challenge for all of us and I think we are learning what we remember and re-writing what we don't. In the end, I think we all feel it will turn out for the better and the new sound/arrangements are going to be much more amazing than before, especially live. Adding a fifth member to help fill out the sound is a good move and I think the band and music will benefit greatly from Westfall's addition. Thus far, we have attempted relearning (meaning we have run through them somewhat successfully at least one time):
Caution Signs, Moon and the Sun, Sandstorm, Mountains, Solitary Never Sleeps, Enemy Spies, Room 328, and Mothra.
Stay tuned for more updates from the practice sessions, and hopefully the rest of the guys will start joining in on these updates as well. See you soon! Mark

First WK,P! practice in 3 and 1/2 years!!
Well guys and gals, we've made it through our first practice after 3 and 1/2 years of not playing together as We Know, Plato!. We came out of it better than we all thought. In fact, I feel like in some ways we sounded even better than we did back in the spring of 2009, given that we hadn't played these songs in years.
We also added a second rhythm guitarist/keyboardist to the lineup. He stepped in, learned the songs as best he could given the short time we had and he didn't do too bad at all. We are eager to see how having him play with us actually fills out and opens up our sound. We have a lot of work ahead of us to learn these songs as well as re-arrange the songs for two guitars/keyboards in order to go into the recording studio, but I think we will be alright. Tonight's practice consisted of re-learning: Caution Signs Sandstorm Moon and the Sun Mountains Solitary Never Sleeps Enemy Spies (this one's pretty solid though. It's one of those songs you just never forget how to play)
They still need some work and polish, but they're coming along. More reporting from the practice space next week. For now, thanks for tuning in... Mark
