When The Torch Theatre began in 2007, we sought to help improvisors hone their craft and spread the word about longform improv in Phoenix, Arizona. It’s become so much more than that. Phoenix Mercury

The Phoenix Mercury is a professional basketball team based in Phoenix, Arizona, playing in the Western Conference in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Janet Echelman's Her Secret Is Patience, 2009. "This project makes visible to the human eye the patterns of desert winds. During the day, sunlight projects patterned shadow drawings onto the ground and pedestrians on their daily paths. At night, the colored illumination gradually changes color through the seasons. The large three-dimensional multi-layered form is created by a combination of hand and machine knotting of recyclable high-tenacity colored polyester that is replaced in new color variations at intervals."

The Shemer Art Center and Museum, located at 5005 E. Camelback Rd., is a community resource for a diverse selection of art classes and workshops paired with a museum and exhibition space for local artists. Classes are available to the community in mediums including drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, and jewelry design and casting.

The Phoenix Fridas is an art collective founded in 2004 by Kathy Cano-Murillo, the Crafty Chica. Inspired by craft groups springing up all over the country at the time, Kathy invited her friends to come together as a fun way to celebrate and indulge in the Chicano craft experience. Her goal is to promote and motivate Latinas to join in the art and craft movement.
