i looove that kenny plays mtg in canon. do you think he asks his friends when they go to denver with their parents to buy a limited my little pony booster for him? do you think he spends almost all the little money he has on building a “prefect” deck? do you think he stole files from school, cut and ironed them so he could use them as card protectors? do you think he found out that their local library has a board game wednesday and he went there expecting to see other passionate mtg-heads, but he saw just a few old people playing chess instead? do you think they made a treaty with each other and kenny learned how to play chess, and they learned how to play mtg?

I think people are missing out on Tweaks’ full potential. They are perfect vessels for a very specific group of extremely annoying guys: “spiritually enlightened” white people. They’re chill with drugs (tm) but in a lame way where they sincerely believe that taking lsd in college had opened their chakras and made them sensitive to the subtle worlds. Every room in their house is a hidden object puzzle where you have to spot ten culturally appropriated objects. Of course they eat shit like organically sourced quinoa. And yes, mrs Tweak gave birth at home. They also believe in some insane conspiracy theories but are more reserved about it so you just wouldn’t guess it unless you found yourself in a three-hour long conversation with them and they let it slip.

In my beautiful mind Tweaks are two steps away from white people with dreadlocks category and that’s why Tweek is Like That. Sorry.

clyde fans. i am speaking directly into your ear. south park is not a slice of life romcom. you will accept that, if this plotline isnt immediately forgotten by the next episode, that your little boy has flaws. that he is a cishet white guy who was spewing transphobic, homophobic, racist, misogynistic and antisemitic shit on the internet for money. you will enjoy that your favourite character is a fucked up individual. thats how south park rolls. wendy shot a lesbian into the sun that one time and we all have to live with that

I think it’s important to say that Clyde has been that character for a while now? Since postcovid? The Cartman’s replacement (sorta)?

Eric Cartman in the first seasons was more of a character - a spoiled kid, who is dumb and who sucks, but it’s not like he represents all the evil in the world.

Then, yeah, he became a representation of all the evil in the world.

And since season 20 or so, M&T decided to change his character a lot. Making him a character who mostly reacts to the ongoing trends instead of directly participating in them. Basically, for a while, it was a satire in which we didn’t have a reoccurring character to point a finger at and laugh and think how fucked up this is. I’m not counting Randy.

However, in postcovid, meanwhile Cartman was still being fucked as a character, Clyde took that role. He became that scapegoat: and idiot who thinks that vaccines are fake, who is “shellfish” and now everyone is fucked because of him. Then we got a special about Clyde and Cartman as his sidekick, the we got this episode. It just makes sense from the writing perspective. If you want a good satire you need a character that would show fucked up things that are going on in society. And if it’s not Eric Cartman, let it be Clyde Donovan.

alright it’s obvious that cartman can get butters locked up in like arkham asylum or some shit and butters will be like “oh well I knew what I was getting myself into” and go on as usual however. it’s critical that people realise that butters can throw cartman under the bus and he’ll be like “ugh🙄 fucking butters. that’s literally so gay. but he gave me a get-well card and a kfc coupon so I guess I’ll magnanimously forgive him and give him permission to come coo at me and feed me like a baby bird since both my arms are broken. whatever”. like that’s just how they roll

i kind of super dont relate to the idea that early innocent butters was "taken" from us and/or that hes "ruined" now that hes a much worse person. i actually think that "formerly nice, sweet boy who was the victim of so much abuse, both from his family and greater society, that he started to direct all his negative feelings into hating an easy target (women) instead of acknowledging who and what actually hurt him in the first place (eg, the homophobes who tried to conversion therapy him) because that requires greater effort and what he wants is quick relief and the catharsis of hate" to be probably the most realistic instance of character development in the entire show. its happening right now as we speak!

one of the saddest things about creating south park fan content is the girls are so poorly written that they aren’t even entertaining to make stuff up about. like i want to have fun with your characters but i can’t because trey parker is looming over them at all times with his habit of thinking Being Female is enough of a trait to define several entire characters.

I've got my own answers to this but I'm very curious if it lines up with the consensus of the fanbase:

Who would you consider to be some of the most iconic/influential figures in south park fandom history? Like who's names immediately come to mind when you think about the fandom?

This could be the usernames of people who were/are artists, writers, bloggers, maybe just people who were enough of a nuisance to garner attention. This isnt just limited to tumblr (though thats how I've experienced the last 12 years), this could even be things as far back as chatrooms and forums that are now defunct, or on other socials that maybe I'm not aware of their impact.

Maybe reply to this post or shoot me an anon ask if you're shy about it? I really would love to hear for research purposes
