Stressmares
Stressmares (not this week, too similar tor relaxation)
Twas' the stressmare before exam week, and all through the school, not a student was sleeping, not even a fool. Stress had haunted and burdened the innocent souls of many students. Over the last century, we have suffered from sleep deprivation, lack of social life, overwhelming expectations, and verbal abuse from parents. These terrible oppressions had pushed many students passed their limits. So today, the ultimate tip post to relieve all stress will be brought to you by Veronika and Angela!
Tips to keep your soul from the Stressmare!!!!
· When studying, keep some fruits or snacks beside you to relieve the anxiety. We all know food is the answer to everything. Just not jumbo-sized Cheeto bags. I know. But you've got to resist that cheesiness.
· Make a little plan and checklist for yourself. What you're going to do, and when you're going to do it. Remember to prioritize! This maps out the all the things you need to do.
· When stressed out on a particular homework, do a little dance around the room, shake it off, and start again. Exercise is a great way to get off some stress.
· Though we all think we are way too cool for sleep, we're not. So don't go to school and brag to your friends how late you slept last night. As soon as you finish studying/homeworking, brush your teeth and go to bed. Without your phone.
· Identify things you think that stress you out. If it’s your math homework, which is obviously will be, then maybe seek help or ways to get rid of that stress or approach it in a calm manner. The more you make it your enemy, the more pain you'll go through doing it. (Random proverb from the authors)
· If you look into our earlier post on relaxation, it gives you tips on how to be the master of chillaxing, and the best way to get away from stress is to take that deep breath and do some yoga, meditation, and pretzel twists
· If you’re so stressed and all the above tips didn't work, the best way is to let it out. Obviously not on your (possibly annoying) siblings, though very tempting. Give that pillow a few upper cuts or that plushie a few powerful punches. Just remember to clear your head to do this, and avoid negative thoughts.
· To relieve stress, you should always be prepared. Being prepared will give you a sense of comfort and confidence when taking tests, and even if you aren't prepared, at least you should think you're prepared.
If you're still going bald after that amazing list, then I'm afraid you've fallen too deep into the clutches of the Stressmare. We will mourn your demise. But otherwise, if you follow this list, we give you 97% guarantee that your life will be stress-free. :)
Study Tips
Tragedies are often the accurate connotations for studying. At the mere sound of the horrible word being chanted from teachers, students immediately cower in fear. BUT NO FEAR! TIPPY’S HERE! We will bring you the ultimate guide to conquering studying with the best tips you can get. Study sheets
Though this sound likes a complete pain in the gluteus, since you already have your notes, it is a very effective strategy to gather all your knowledge in one place. You can either do a “cram sheet” or a “graphics sheet”. A cram sheet is on a line paper [study sheets/guides are best handwritten] where you put all the important points with lots of examples together. A graphics sheet is usually on an A3 sheet of paper where there are bullet pointed notes and graphics to explain the problems.
Ask for a pre-test/old tests
I’m sure you’ve heard this one too many times, but we’re going to make you hear it one more time. Practice makes perfect. Be proactive and ask your teacher for a pre-test or practice test. (This will also give your teacher a good impression of you as a hard-working student) Doing pre-tests written by the teacher is the best way to get a preview of what’s actually on the test.
Make your own practice test
If your teacher is a stubborn and irksome who refuses to give you a practice test, then make your own! Making your own test allows you to target the areas you especially need work on. You can get these questions from textbooks, old quizzes/tests or homework.
Do not procrastinate
Facebook, Skype, or Youtube all suddenly becomes much more tantalizing when you are sitting down to prepare for your algebra quiz. You might give yourself a lousy excuse such as “I need to ask my friends to study with me” when you open up those social media. But please realize high schoolers have the attention span of fish, so after, let’s say, two seconds of actual studying, your conversations should be around the latest breakup of Bob and Bobette to planning your next getaway.
Review notes/homework/quizzes/tests
The obvious, but the beneficial. Review ALL notes, homework, quizzes, and especially old tests. This will give you a good grasp on all the subjects you’ve covered. This one is pretty self-explanatory.

Do you enjoy munching on a cob of corn? Drinking soymilk? Eating packaged snacks? If you have already eaten anything at all today, high chances are it contains ingredients that have been altered through genetic engineering. Genetically Modified Foods also known as GMO Foods are now dominating the supermarket shelves whether it’s in your favorite snack, vegetable, fruit, or drink. GMO Foods are ultimately everywhere.
The overarching question is however, “Are these foods safe?”
GMO food promoters claim that it poses no harm to humans and the environment and states that in order to feed the world’s growing population, we absolutely need this new technology. It is in fact true that it will ensure a well-sustained food supply, as the crops are pest, disease, cold, drought, and herbicide tolerant making it cheap for production. But new studies have shown and concluded the alarming risk factors that GMO foods cause.
In a long term study done by French scientists, it was proven that rats who were fed GMO corn developed dreadful fatal tumors at a much higher and quicker rate than rats not exposed to such products. Not only this, 70% of the female rats died very early within their average lifespan. Additionally, The American Academy of Environmental Medicine had conducted many animal studies measuring the effects of GMO foods and has warned the public on the “serious health risks.” Many diseases have also been linked to long-term GMO food consumption including cancers like kidney cancer, prostate cancer, liver cancer, colon cancer, breast cancer and other problems such as thyroid tumors, brain tumors, Parkinson’s disease, infertility, birth defects, and autism. As a matter a fact, in over 260 studies done across the world, a variety of cancers have been linked back to agriculture chemicals.
With all these concluding studies showing how GMO foods are harmful, why are these foods still on the shelves of our stores, and in our favorite trusted brands? The even more pressing issue is that so many people are still unaware that they are indulging in such harmful substances. Even with its ability to solve world hunger, safety is a larger concern. The human race is a smart species, there are and will be other ways to create a sustainable amount of food without the use of toxic ingredients.
