Why is my Watch such a chud. He legit just sits around and plays on his laptop. He's friends with Iris because she forced him to leave his room. Also yes I like him ugly.
I have an opinion to share: I did not like the new SCP sedition.
Personally I think it was very poorly written, despite having 4 script writers mind you. It had some good funny moments, I agree on that, but I have a few points I want to bring up to just rant about.
First thing I want to address is how they entirely ruined the Jolanda storyline. The point of that story in 049's standalone sedition was to portray how bad his obsession with the pestilence is to the point he'd kill his own adoptive daughter who he practically raised. We also see it with Dr. Hamm in the og article but by having 035 kill Jolanda I fear it removes the drasticality of the original story and I fear they only added that for the shock factor, rather than the actual impact. That entire sedition felt like "how evil we can make 035 for no other reason than for people to feel sorry for 049 and angstslop" to make 049's own actions more forgettable and thus ruining the whole reason that story existed: again, to show how far his obsession went with the pestilence. This fandom has had a problem with babying 049 ever since he was written and I fear this does not help the cause.
The communal sedition we were promised was 049 and 035 alone, in the original trailer 3 years ago and then it was revealed they were adding 079 which I thought could've been an amusing trio.. But then they added 343? There I sort of got a bit mad. I feel they have nothing to do with one another. 049 and 035 obviously have a long long history, even in the original 049 article, but 079 and 343 paired with them? 343 just comes across as insufferable everytime he speaks and it was very hard to sit through his dialogue I found. I watched this with my girlfriend and 3 of my friends and we all nearly skipped through his dialogue
079 barely opened his mouth to speak unless if it was to talk about "Oh where's 682๐ฅบ" rather than ALL his other motives. Even his desire camera and greatest desire instead of the whole adapting into humanity it was "Was it 682?". I understand how deep their bond is, especially with their own communal sedition, but 079 is his own SCP also and I wanted to learn more about him but I fear all I got was information about 682 when he wasn't even there? The same goes for 343.
Speaking of dialogue before I get to more mischarcaterisation: It felt the entire sedition, again, was about how evil they can make 035 yet doing it poorly. Everybody in that communal sedition is morally gray in my eyes, but it felt like they just were attacking 035. Everytime they all yelled and attack 035 where was their comebacks like they had in the og 035 sedition? They just sat there and took it rather than giving some sassy and sarcastic comeback, it also felt like for a theatre mask they had no theatrics at all this time. Compare the og sedition 035 to this one and you'll see what I mean. The entire backstory of 035 was word for word a copy of the og 035 sedition, I learned literally nothing knew. Watch tries to "keep things civil" but its only for the others. Everybody is so mean to 035 but the second they opens their mouth they attack them, but for anybody else Watch says nothing at all.
Personally I feel they mostly villainslopped 035 because "Oh we need a villain so let's take it out on 035 ONLY to 049 so he can look so innocent" WHICH, AGAIN, FURTHERS INTO HOW THIS FANDOM BABYS 049. I personally, maybe, would've tolerated the Jolanda twist if they wrote it better but why, oh why wouldn't 049 in his og sedition say "Oh yeah 035 killed my daughter" if they actually did rather than saying to Jacobs "Oh yeah I killed my daughter for the disease I preach so dearly and how my actions are just so justified"? Once more repeating myself but it felt like they just threw it on for shock value rather than actual lore, plot and substance. That whole part of the video it just felt like "Oh I did this to 049 and I LOVEDDD IT, IM SO EVIL AND I LOVE IT, I DONT CARE AT ALL" despite the fact they show care for killing random people and all their victims in the og sedition which really gives 035 some more charcater I felt. They threw that out of the window entirely.
Plus the animation quality is so poor, they don't care anymore and I fear they only want the money from patreon, YouTube donations and views. The lipsyncing of 343 was rather poor, not to mention the 049 model changed where his beak is obnoxiously long and he is glossy? And the most obvious thing being how 035 doesn't even fit on their host's head and at times clips through.
My last point, maybe may add to this later, but the part where it's "Oh what scps should we interview next" and 049 picks the most random scps it makes me feel like it's AI generated? Maybe that's a me thing but while they are scps that speak it felt so out there. That's why I left that last point there, maybe a more personal gripe.
I'm literally just pretending this tape didn't happen tbh. It hasn't been the same since clown prince of crime (Jacob's va) left, and with how great jacobs journals is that makes sense. Idk how they did it but everybody read like anime characters, 90% of the plot makes no sense and the retcons are genuinely awful. No hate to the team ofc, it was just a bad tape. Not sure what tats was thinking or what happened behind closed doors but its really obvious somebody was carrying all of sedition plot wise.
On the Weibo, the Deduction Star overview was announced (as was trailer for Once Ivy and Annie), but no commentary on the Gen AI yet. I haven't verified this yet but apparently the NGP Discord removed its comment that the Gen AI would be addressed.
Hopefully this is because they thought it would've been a quick response and wasn't, but the cynical part of me dreads a "bread and circus" situation.
With that comes my unpleasant reminder: Don't let the excitement of characters being voted for new skins stop you from protesting the Gen AI. The developers who make the characters you want to vote for skins and the skins themselves are at risk of being laid off entirely.
Whether you play or not make sure to spam, harass, survey, pitch, boycott, and protest the use of Gen AI slowly creeping into Identity V.
My motivation to stay angry is this 20th century caricature that is the Nightmare Mr. Hyde sticker. While I believe the skin was hand-designed until proven contrary, it's my personal reminder there was a stark decline in IDV's quality starting late 2025.
I recommend you begin emailing Identity V's support email about their usage of AI in the most current COA promotional video and their usage of AI up scaling in the most recent daily log in event leading up to the anniversary. Express your distaste before it's too late and defend IDV's original core messaging of paying and caring about artist's works!! Let's show Netease cooperate that we do not want to loose our favorite game to AI!
The recent news about NetEase using AI in their art, and actually committing to keep using it in place of actual humans in their games is absolutely heartbreaking. Along with the fact that they've seemingly been using it for longer than the recent CoA IX video and current in-game events, and that so many people working in the company are being let go because of it.
One of IDV's strongest suits was the art direction. Visually stunning and unique, and it was the first thing that drew me into the franchise. You could tell these people were immensely passionate and creative, and now the management is throwing all of it away for profit. A big company that could easily afford to keep these artists wants even more money.
A lot of people put money into this game; money they paid out of love for the game that would go back to all the talented people who worked hard to deliver an enticing and fun franchise. One would at least expect to get a decent, genuine product. Now they expect to be paid for literal lazy, disingenous slop? How is that okay? Especially with how predatory the transactional system in the game already is?
This whole thing is actually so depressing. Aside from artists losing their jobs, the environmental impact and that it learns from stolen work, the one thing I'm the most frustrated about in generative AI is that I can never fully trust any image or video clip I come across on the internet. While yes, you always had to be critical about things you see on the internet since its dawn, but at least before you didn't have to second guess every single thing and look thoroughly for tell-tale signs before deeming that it's real. And it's getting harder and harder as time goes. We will never get that back. I'm constantly doubting everything, and I'm sick of it! Do I have to do the same for official IDV art now, where I previously could trust that they were always made by human hands? I'm gonna cry...
As for me, I haven't really figured out what I'll do yet. IDV has been such a huge inspiration for me for the last few years. I absolutely adore the lore and characters, and I'm still so invested in them. I've met many wonderful people through this fandom, and I still have ideas I really want to put out there, but I also feel bad about it all. I never played the game or gave them my money myself (was always scared of running into toxic players and have my mental health spiraling), but I have probably introduced or promoted the game to others with my art, who may have spent their money on it.
I really want to keep enjoying IDV as, like I said, I love its story and characters. But I think I need some time to figure out how I'll go about doing that, or if it's possible at all after everything. I know I haven't posted art in a while, but maybe I need to take a break. We'll see, nothing is set in stone.
One silver lining is that it looks like many people are hurt by this in the NA/EU server. If enough people, espacially the Asian player base, pushes back, maybe there's a chance they'll listen? I don't know what the attitude towards this is in other servers, but I hope they're upset about this as well cause NetEase is more likely to listen to CN-players. No matter what, don't stop being angry if you're like me. Let them know that this is not okay, but please be respectful about it.
I'm actually so pissed off about this entire thing. Genuinely ai is ruining everything I love and taking my future as a young person away. I cant play video games, I can't get a job without going through ai hurdle after ai hurdle just to never get a call back, and I'm scared to start college because I feel like no degree I get will be valuable by the time I get it. Genuinely wtf am I supposed to do.
Maybe it's just because I'm spiraling in general right now but I'm so fucking upset over this. Netease deciding to slopify my favriote game and the thing that has brought me comfort for years is genuinely the last straw for me right now. I kinda just have to stick to old indie games right now. Good time to catch up on my next up list I guess.
