Inertia never looked good on me

Seige

I’m under constant fire. Sharp words fly, Arrowheads tearing through flesh, sinking deep into wounds that haven’t yet healed from before.

“You’re not good enough!” and “You’re always wrong!” “No one could ever love you.”

You think I don’t know that already? You think the liars in my head don’t scream it at me daily? I can’t escape it, That Machiavellian battering ram, And I sure as hell don’t need your arduous reminder.

You don’t know what it’s like to live in my head. You don’t know how exhausting it is to be me. You don’t see it. Because I don’t let you. I protect you from the relentless barrage that pounds furious, Lays waste to each stone wall in my mind. I’m far closer to broken than you know, And strength’s sturdy shield is harder and harder to find.

I don’t know how much longer I can fend them off. Covered in scars, covered in bleeding trauma, The mortal blow looms ever near, My crumbling stockade weakened beyond repair. Every rattle and quake terrifies me to my core; Will this be it? Did I finally take one hit too many?

Is it over? 

Can I rest?

Autumn

Take me dancing in the rain, When the leaves have softly turned And the flowers bloom in vain; Their hearts not yet hardened by winter’s icy gloom.

I’ll take you running in the snow When the grass is muffled beneath our feet And the only thing blooming is love’s sweet glow; Our cheeks not yet warmed by spring’s radiant sky

Oh my love, take me through rolling hills, When time has opened up the earth And the blossoms again return from chill; Still young are they to summer’s blazing sun.

My darling, I’ll take you over mountain and glen, When everything has burst to abundant life And blossoming plants are fruitful again; Our heated brows unknowing of fall’s cooling horizon

Silly Sunday prompts: Henry hiding in the backyard wearing the lion hat, roaring to the reader cause it's mating time 🦁😂

I heard Henry calling from the yard, the primal sound of a wild animal ready for his woman. I sighed, and strapped on my own lion hat.

Mating season was a bitch.

Broken People

The world is full of people. Broken people, Broken pieces. Together, we form a picture that sometimes we cannot see. But when you find those people, Broken people, Broken pieces that connect to your broken edges; The bond is sealed between you as the picture takes it’s shape.

It was the fate of those broken people To stand beside you, Hold your hand.  To heal your broken edges, And for you to heal their own. Broken pieces of broken people Fit together in a picture,  Made more beautiful by the cracks of broken edges in a frame.

For that is all we are, We’re broken people, Broken pieces. Not one of us the same but when together we are strong. I have found my broken people, Broken pieces Now connected by the sharpened broken edges That hold pain for me no more.
