They say water not only cleanses the body but it also does wonders for your soul.
A nice hot bath to sit and relax in.
Or a shower. Where water cascades down the body. Not only removing the grime of the day from your skin. But also from your mind.
Which was usually the case for him.Â
However today was different.
You noticed it when he stepped through the door. His typical frowned brow. That usually disappeared whenever he would lay his eyes on you. But this time it stayed.
The lost look in his eyes. The absent minded "Hi".
And where he would normally give you a full kiss on your lips, now just a peck.Â
He said he was going to take shower and he'd be right down.
And you watched him walk off. Head bowed down, shoulders dropped.
Like he was defeated by the day.
That all was 10 min ago.Â
Here you stood against the doorframe looking at the man that seemed like he was carrying the world on his shoulders. Who worked hard to protect it. Protect you and Faye.
Standing underneath the spray, chin on his chest, eyes closed, no movement save for the rising off his chest everytime he took a breath.
Suddenly a raised fist that landed on the tiles before him followed by a silent swear.
And you knew there was only one thing you could do for him.Â
You stripped out of your clothes and joined him. Putting a hand on his shoulder, to let him know:
A nod with his head to acknowledge you.
You planned to wrap your arms around his waist and hug your chest to his back.
But he stopped you, took your hand and drew him in front of you.Â
When you locked eyes you saw the sadness,the hopelessness, the silent cry for help.
You answered the best way you knew how.
Wrapping your arms around him, holding him tight. Him holding onto you for dear life. Afraid that if he would let go you'd be gone. You gave him what he desperately needed. To feel your skin against his. To know he was not alone.Â
There you stand holding each other till the water runs cold, you dry each other off. You made him sit down so you could dry his hair and he let you. His head up, eyes closed. The frown disappeared, replaced by peace, a small smile and a content sigh when you kissed his nose.Â
Your guided him to your bed and held him in your armsÂ
Letting his curls slide through your fingers while stroking his head.Â
He just needed your touch to cleanse his soul.
