“So ... tomorrow I’m going home.”

“Will you come back?”

“Not for a while. I have to go back to work in the city. I’m going to miss it here a lot. Can you visit?”

“I can’t go far on land. I have gills. I need access to the sea to breathe!”

“And I can’t swim at all. I’m gonna miss you.”

“I’m going to miss you too!”

“What is this?”

“It’s coffee! It’s great!”

“It’s making me jittery.”

“That means it’s working!”

“I don’t think this looks like me at all!”

“Soooo she?”

“Yes, sushi! Oh no, you don’t eat fish, do you.”

“No, I do! It’s basically all there is to eat underwater. I like this!”

“Oh, awesome!”

“I love it here. I love the sound of the sea.”

“The sea is vast, full of life. Underwater you always hear the lull of a thousand sea creatures. Some nights we hear the song of a distant whale. Some nights we sing along.”

“I wish you could see my home under the sea. Beautiful coral everywhere!”

“My home’s pretty cool too, I guess. I mean it’s mostly concrete and steel. That’s human civilization for you.”

“Is it nearby?”

“Not really. Actually I’m just here for the summer.”

“Shame. I’d love to see it someday.”

“One summer I stayed at a house by the sea, where I met a most interesting person. She came out of the sea in the evenings, and we would talk by the shore. She couldn’t go far on land, and I couldn’t go far in water.”
