me again. im so annoying i know jfc but my other blog is full of like either angst or nsfw shit so i need some fluff okay. dont mind me welp and this is short i sorry

"I know, but…I can’t help it." The last for words are spoken softly like a child admitting something awful. "I’m used to the ship-I mean, I’m not afraid of it. I know you’re there, so I’m not afraid in the day." A light blush colors her cheeks, which had been a deathly scared pale, but she hardly notices. "But at night…when the shadows grow long and spindly in the candlelight…you can almost imagine him still there." Wendy finishes slowly as if picking her words carefully, her hands now reaching up to fidget with her thick curls. "I just…I didn’t want to worry you, so I told you. That way the next time I go screaming into the night you know why." Wendy smiles faintly then, glancing up at him with a gaze that was meant to be reassuring but in the end just looked frightened.
"It’s not you, or the ship. It’s just…my memories getting to me. That’s all." Wendy’s smile grows and the fear fades just a bit. "Do I sound mad, Peter?"
Not afraid as long as he was around. There were so many else that would have said otherwise, his presence usually a threat to them whether in the dark or light. The way that she talked of shadows, it was hardly surprising Wendy knew how to tell a good story. For a few moments he was even taken back to the rare quiet evenings when the boys would all sit around the fire. Hearing stories of pirates and mermaids, and some magical place that only Peter and The Darlings had seen, with a clock tower as tall as a giant and not a forest or jungle in sight. The boy smiled to himself. If only they’d known that the magical place wasn’t really that magical at all. But then he realises that she’s still talking, and that he likely should have been listening. Had he been a more understanding being, one more able to empathise, he might have known what to do to help her. But the nightmares he suffered himself were quite bad enough, he didn’t want to hear of her dreams too.
:{ ♥ }: {"No, not mad. I just think you might be much too good at telling stories, Wendy. They creep up on you while you’re sleeping.”}
She smiled at his words despite the fact that they were not entirely reassuring to her. In the bright light of daylight, standing next to him and his tall shadow next to her smaller one seeming to almost protect hers, it was almost believable. But so many questions still plagued her-why now? Why, when she was so happy being with Peter, did Hook have to invade her dreams again? It didn't make sense.
Perhaps her imagination was getting to her after all.
It seemed perfectly rational standing in the sunlight with him. At night, however, rationality never seemed to help her. Peter was trying to make her feel better-in his own way-and for that she was glad. "That's a perfectly rational assumption, Peter. I never thought of it that way." She replied with her bright smile and sparkling eyes the color of the waters they sailed. "I have always been accused of a good imagination." Wendy paused and looked away from him once more before looking back at him, once again more worried for him than for herself. "It's a wonder you don't seem to get any nightmares, Peter." She said aloud. It was not a direct question, but she seemed so curious it might as well have been.

She nods, folding her hands in front of her and looking away from him for a moment. Wendy thought the question was now a little redundant-who on Earth could he tell her secrets too?-but she supposed it was good to ask nonetheless. “I’ve been having…nightmares. Recently. I had them before after I returned from Neverland the first time…they’re back now. They’re of Hook, I think. I can’t remember them clearly.” She looks back up at him, brown curls blocking her eyes just a little. “I know I shouldn’t be having them…it’s so odd. I just wanted to tell you in case you heard me screaming in the night-I am sure you have already.”
Nightmares. Of course, she’d slept fitfully aboard the ship since she’d gotten there. Peter had most certainly noticed. It may have had something to do with the fact that he kept a very close watch on her, and especially when she wasn’t able to watch him back. But he’d play along for now, he supposed. He didn’t want to embarrass her, nor really reveal the fact that he was so concerned.
:{ ∬ }: {"Perhaps it’s the ship. Does take getting used to.”} he nodded, the same could have been said for himself. The amount of still-ticking clocks he kept under his bed for weeks after he’d claimed the ship was almost unthinkable.
{"He won’t hurt you. Not where he is now.”}

"Can I trust you?" Wendy suddenly asks, looking to the person next to her earnestly with worried blue eyes, her lips serene and her brows forming the slightest frown.
Did she not trust him? Think him dishonest, perhaps? Peter watched her, head tilted curiously, as if in thought. Only for a few short moments. Enough to hear bird song through the trees, their short, fleeting cries.

In one of the rare instances that Wendy would happen upon Peter’s diary, she’d marvel, as usual, at his drawings. As The Lost Boy couldn’t read or write, he would use pictures instead, picking and choosing memories from here and there that he thought were worthwhile. And so, when she found the chance, she found a space of a back page and wrote. The only words that would ever be in the diary weren’t that of it’s owners, and so she was sure to make them important ones.
