“B, I know this is a little late but Happy Valentines Day! I would have got you more roses but I missed out on the school roses they bring in for V-Day so I had to go hunting in the gardens and like, it’s hard to find flowers that haven’t died from the cold.. i also stole plastic and a ribbon from the art closet.. don’t tell Mrs Reve.. she’ll have my head haha. Anyway, I hope you have a good day! Love, Like, From Eddie."
Braelynn was trying to force her mind to fall into a schedule. She’d wake up, do her morning routine, water her flowers, go to her classes and if there was cheer practice she would attend. She still hadn’t found what to do between then and supper, however. Today she was seeing if walking around the school, was a good enough distraction. Sure, when Mara did the podcasts, she listened to them. Sometimes sending questions her way. But that wasn’t happening lately.
With a small sigh, Braelynn pulls her sweater tighter around her body. Looking up at a figure in the distance. “Need any help?” She calls out quickening her pace.

Cassidy couldn’t help but watch the girl beside her, her expression mirrored that of many of the other students. Hurt, saddened. It was all somewhat confronting to come into. She couldn’t help but wonder exactly what had happened at this school. “Wait, what?” the words left her mouth before she could stop it - Cassidy couldn’t help it, she was slightly taken aback. When she’d used the expression ‘Who died?’ it had been only that, an expression . She hadn’t exactly expected someone to actually have passed away. Cassidy looked away from the girl, glancing around the half filled classroom. It made sense - the glum expressions - it was all mourning. She knew it well. “What happened?” she asked unable to mask her curiosity.
Braelynn turns to face the girl before speaking. “Last year, Gunner Castle, Eve Yang, and Poppy Andrews didn’t show up for supper. There was a party earlier that day so I kind of thought that Eve and Poppy were just relaxing.” Opening her eyes, she lets a sigh out. “When they didn’t show up to class April second people thought they were pulling a long prank or something. But they didn’t show up to class at all and people began to think something actually happened.” Looking away she rubs the back of her neck. “A few days ago, during this dance, they found Gunner. In the middle of the stage, after the power cut out…” Shaking her head she sighs again. “They weren’t the best people, even I can admit that. But they didn’t deserve any of this. Nobody does. And now Maisie went missing and it’s just… a lot to process for people.”

Eddie was numb. So numb in fact that his fingers were tingling and he couldn’t even feel his legs as they carried him down the hall towards his room. He had been told by staff to go back to his room and shower, which was understandable considered he was covered in blood. He stared down at his scarlet hands, tears pooling in his eyes and clouding his vision. It took him a few seconds to react to Braelynn’s voice, but as soon as his brain registered it he stopped and turned around sharply. “B…” he whispered, his voice cracking as he stumbled forward a step. A huge tear rolled down his cheek as his lip trembled. “I-” he started to say, but no other words would come out.. instead a faint laugh that held no humour whatsoever and a strangled sob fell from his lips.
Briskly moving forward Braelynn shakes her head. “Eddie... I am so sorry..” Sighing she keeps moving forward. Once again finding herself at a loss for words. But it was different this time. Everything was different now that Gunner had been found. The air seemed to be exponentially heavier. As if it was trying to crush the students beneath it. Looking at Eddie her expression softens. She had no clue what he was going through yet again. With a small sigh, Braelynn eventually speaks again looking away. “I don’t know how to help but...” Shifting from one foot to the other she pauses for a moment before continuing. “I want to help. I want to be here for you.” Resting her hand on his upper arm she looks up at the blonde. “If that’s okay with you.”
its-cassidyd :
By now Cassidy had endured more than her fair share of first days. However it didn’t stop her from resenting them any less. In all honesty the process had become somewhat repetitive to her - it was stiff and it was most certainly awkward. However after spending far too much time stuck in a barely liveable apartment in San Francisco, she’d decided a change of scenery was well overdue. Thats where Fairfield came in. She didn’t understand why she hadn’t thought of it earlier - campus living. It fell under the whole ‘kill two birds with one stone’ nonsense.
As she stepped into the quiet hallways of Fairfield Prep she couldn’t help but notice somewhat of a tenseness in the air. It was almost as if everyone was on edge. Choosing to shrug it off, she found her way to her first classroom, taking a seat. Observing as other students filed their way in through the open door. Cassidy’s eyebrow kinked up in curiosity “God… who died?” she muttered to no one in particular.
Wrapping her arms around herself Braelynn shuffles into the room. Looking around briefly before moving to her seat. Setting her bag on her desk she rummages through it taking out a few supplies before setting it on the ground. Eyes scanning a sheet of paper she rolls her eyes before pushing it off to the side. How was some useless sheet of paper, and a few days with grief counseling going to help in the slightest? She was honestly baffled that they thought everything could be forgotten in such a short amount of time. Pushing her hair out of her face Braelynn shakes her head. She couldn’t think about it. Not right now when everything was a mess. She needed to be there for Eddie, Kace, and Whitney. Rubbing her temple she looks to the front of the class.
Hearing the girls voice she looks at her. Brows knitting together slightly at the muttered question. Braelynn hears her voice before she realizes she’s responding. “Kace’s best friend.” It comes out quietly. Staring off blankly as her vision blurs she shakes her head. It felt...so unnatural to say. “He was here last year... and he was... he was laughing. He was safe. But now he’s...” Covering her mouth she shuts her eyes tightly.
Leaning against the wall Braelynn carefully peers around the corner. Ignoring the cold nipping at her skin she crouches moving forward ducking under the windows that she moved past. She couldn’t recall doing anything so reckless in the past. She wasn’t sure why her heart was pounding so fast. It could have been a number of things. Her nerves, the aspect of getting caught by security... the thought that she was going against everything they’d been told earlier. They were told to stay together. That there was safety in numbers. Yet here she was mind racing a mile a minute sneaking to the doors of the Armada dorm. Carefully opening the door she slips in slowly shutting the door.
Looking around the hall she slowly starts to walk down it. She knew Kace's dorm was on the second floor. And she was fine taking the lecture she would surely receive for this reckless act. Which would confirm that he was... slightly okay. She just needed to get the information of where Eddie’s dorm was from him as well. Braelynn already knew she wouldn’t be able to sleep. With a mix of worries about the people she cared about and how they were. And the fact that this would only make her nightmare more creative than Halloween night had, she shakes her head. Moving up the stairs slowly she looks behind her quickly.
Stepping into the hall she peers down one side before peering down the other. Eyes landing on a figure she flinches. Quickly moving back on the steps she tries calming herself down. Peering back around the corner she lets a small sigh out realizing who it is. Silently thanking the fact she didn’t have to disturb Kace she moves forward “Eddie...”
Braelynn’s shaky hand rested on her stomach as she slowly shuffled along with the group. Her face had long since set into dread and disillusion. That girl... all those months ago. Shaking her head she moves her other trembling hand to cover her mouth momentarily. Before letting it fall back to her side. There were so many things crossing her mind she thought she would faint. Was her brother okay? Were the Castle siblings okay? Was... anyone okay? Where did Maise go? Who shut the lights off? What if the person who did all of this was walking with her? The suspicions she’d had not a short while ago at who was behind the mask, were suddenly forgotten. As if her mind hadn’t plucked a name and connected lines that anyone could clearly see. Now Braelynn had no clue at all who it could be. Shuddering she exhales a quivering breath. “Did...Did that really... just happen?” Lifting her head hesitantly she looks around the group. “Was that... was that really him?" Blinking multiple times and slowly breathes through her nose.

“You look nice too, Brae,” Jonah claimed, overhearing her as him and Maisie broke apart from dancing. He knew Maisie was a bit nervous about her speech and was also actively trying to keep Elizabeth engaged and having fun in the dance, so he figured he could talk to Braelynn for a bit. “What’s up? You having any fun?”
“Thanks, Jonah, you look nice too and Maisie is just breathtaking.” She responds with a small smile .“It’s a dance.” Letting a chuckle out she shakes her head.. “I uh... The person who did everything Halloween night is in this room, or in the hall somewhere.” Stopping herself she looks down. What if they were nearby..? Looking over her shoulder she sighs. “Killing the fun vibes. Sorry.”

Hearing Braelynn’s voice, Eddie’s head turned so fast it was almost inhuman. The smile that filled his features was so bright and anyone in a five foot radius could feel the excitement that had jolted through him. “B? Hey, I’ve been looking all over for you,” he grinned. “Also shit, you look beautiful.” he added quickly. Eddie chuckled softly as she called him adorable, a brow raising cheekily. “Me? Adorable? I mean I’ve been told that a few times but hearing it from you… you’ll make me blush.”
“I know the feeling. There are so many people in here I thought I’d never find you.” With a smile, she rests a hand on his shoulder. “Thank you. Eds you look very nice yourself, very handsome.” Withdrawing her hand she smiles more chuckling at his comment. “Yes, you. Well who knows, maybe that’s my plan for the night.” Lifting her arms in a shrug she waves them around slightly. Before dropping them at her sides again.

Standing near the table that had most of the food, Eddie sipped at the punch in his hand as his eyes roamed the room. He hadn’t seen Braelynn yet which more disappointed than worried him, he would have liked to have stolen a dance, and he kept it in mind that he would ask her the second he laid eyes on her. In the meantime he was happy chilling out. He kept an eye on where Whitney was, playing the part of the good big brother rather than the clown he usually was. Security was tight tonight, and he wanted everyone to actually have a good time, himself included. Noticing someone walk up to the table beside him, Eddie spoke first before looking over at them. “The punch is pretty amazing by the way, and I can assure you it’s definitely not spiked. Which kind of sucks but at the same time it’s still good; trust me.”
Braelynn was almost certain she’d moved around the entire perimeter gym twice. Each time she’d see a flash of blonde she would let her eyes settle on the figure in an attempt to decipher if it was the person she was looking for. And each time it would prove to be someone else. It honestly felt silly to her at this point. It should have been obvious to her that she wouldn’t be able to see over the swarm of teenagers who were constantly moving. She felt even more silly when she finally saw the blonde in question after moving further into the gym. Taking a small breath she shakes her head with a light laugh before approaching him. Rubbing the back of her neck as he speaks she shakes her head. “I totally trust you. I for one, am very glad to hear that it’s not spiked. And can I just point out, that little spiel was adorable?”
Seeing the security all over the area, Braelynn couldn’t help but feel slightly anxious. Sure, they were there to keep them safe. After the last school event, they couldn’t be too careful. Taking a small breath she maneuvers through the crowd wringing her hands together. Moving to a slightly less crowded area she watches everyone dancing for a moment before rubbing her arm. “Everyone looks so nice...” It was a last minute decision to actually show up. With a large majority of the people Braelynn knew slowly leaving the school, she wasn’t sure how many friendly faces that she would see.
@westernskybrae Baxter has a new hairdo. He looks rad.

He furrowed his eyebrows in thought. “Kace, right? He’s your brother? I met him once or twice, he was chill. But I guess I don’t know him well enough to say he’s more than average.” Jonah shrugged. “Regardless - you just need some good music, good people, and something to do. I hate going to parties that are only dancing. You need a cool game or something.”
“Yeah Kace. He’s very chill. But... Everyone is a little more than average, aren’t they?” She inquires leaning back in her chair and turning to fully face him. “Play some of his favorite tunes try to get Oliver there, along with his other friends.. and have a cool game... That’s good advice, Jonah.” Snapping she points at him with a grin. “You were totally the friend that everyone went to about parties at your old school weren’t you?”
