âItâs a really beautiful view, Cillian,â
Lucy would once again smile at Cillian before moving to take her seat at the table. She was clearly enjoying not only the view but also the company. Sheâd always admired Cillian for his perseverance given everything sheâd heard about. She wasnât sure what all was true and what wasnât, but she had absolutely no intention of asking him to verify or deny anything because they were friends. If he chose to tell her anything as their relationship grew that would be up to him.
âThank you for all of this. I meant it when I said that people donât usually go this far for me.â
âIâm glad you like it.â Cillian says pushing her chair in before walking around and taking his own. âNow donât worry, my cooking isnât up to snuff for a night like this but I was able to ask Mira to make something for us.â Pulling a basket up from the ground next to his chair Cillian began to place a few different dishes on the table.
âThey should, you are a wonderful person, fun to be around.â Cillian says pulling out their drinks and setting them on the table before setting the basket aside. âThough I will say itâs nice to not have the competition.â He adds the last with a mischievous twinkle to his eye.
âI really do like it, Cillian. I mean it,â
Lucy probably wouldnât have minded if the food wasnât the best looking or tasting. The blonde wasnât honestly all that picky. If there were fruit and vegetables within the spread sheâd be happy. She wasnât a vegan or vegetarian but she consumed more fruits and vegetables than she did meat. In fact, she preferred tofu over meat most days.
âIâm sure whatever you could have made would have tasted just fine, you really didnât need to go through so much trouble for me.â
Given that she was used to failed dates, blind or otherwise, sheâd gone into this not expecting much. Yes, Cillian is a guild mate but that didnât mean the date was going to go well, with her track record with guys she expected something catastrophic to happen at any moment.
âTo be honest, I wasnât sure what to expect when I agreed to this date in the first place. Mostly because⊠every other date Iâve gone on has ended in failure.â
That and the men expecting her to put out simply because they paid for some cheap meal and even cheaper wine. She wasnât a floozy nor would she sleep with someone simply because they paid for the meal. With Cillian, she knew she wouldnât need to worry about that. Plus, he was cute and she DID like him. Not that sheâd made that point known.
âI wanted to.â Cillian replies with a small shrug. âIt wasnât all that much trouble if Iâm being honest anyway, hardest part was making sure we didnât get bothered by bugs.â Grinning at Lucy Cillian slid over a container of seasoned tofu and rice.
âI wasnât sure you would agree, heck even when you did I wasnât sure if it would happen. I swear I thought of a thousand different ways it could go wrong because of me in the first hour after you said yes.â He laughs shaking his head and offering her a choice of beverages.Â
âI canât speak for those other guys, only for myself and all I can tell you is the only thing I expect from tonight is for me to at some point make a fool of myself. But hey if you canât do that with someone then are you really friends with them?â
