The war growing outside the castle walls has always loomed over their heads. But with the death of muggle-born student Caleb Pentland over the summer break, they have been forced to face reality: A war is coming. While the students try to focus on school, will the time come to pick a side?

TASK TWO: A piece of home

It is time for our second task!

We would like you to create an edit or collage, with a written description of what you imagine your character’s dorm beds look like. Obviously all characters share their dormitories with other peers, but what does their side of the room look like? Do they have posters or photographs? Is the bed made neatly, or a mess? Do they have a plant, or a stack of books on their bedside table? What’s under their bed? Tell us! If you don’t know how to edit photos, that’s okay! Just using pictures is fine.

Successfully completing this task will earn house points for your character’s house. Tasks are by no means compulsory, but we do strongly encourage you participate!

The Daily Prophet Excerpt

Investigations are currently being conducted as to discover why Hogwarts was vulnerable to a Hogwarts attack over Halloween.  On the evening of the 31st, at a school hosted Halloween party was held in the Great Hall of Hogwarts. At approximately 11:30pm, two Death Eaters broke into the hall and wreaked havoc. There have been no reported casualties, however, students and staff sustained minor injuries.

It has now called into question the safety and security of the school, with parents and ministry officials fearing a future attack with much more dire consequences.

In light of the recent attack, the Ministry has decided to keep Aurors posted on the school grounds for extra protection of students. A stricter curfew has been implemented, with no student (aside from prefects) allowed to be outside their dorms by 9:00pm.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR ROLEPLAYERS?

Auror alumna characters can continue to interact with student characters and plots can be derived from their shared interactions

Auror-in-training alumna characters are also present and can do the same. Being stationed is considered part of their training

Aurors are under no obligation to enforce school rules, unless it is a risk to the student (such as sneaking out) or it breaks wizarding law. They are especially watchful of students breaking curfew.

Some Aurors may help with practical Defence Against The Dark Arts classes

Other Ministry workers may also have business at Hogwarts, having meetings and ensuring measures are working and such, for example.

The overall mood of Hogwarts is a lot more worried and cautionary, with staff and aurors much more protective and less lenient when it comes to rule-breaking.

As the party began to come to an end, a strange darkness fell over the Hall. At first, many students thought it was all part of festivities. But when the room was illuminated once again, it was by a spell of fire igniting one of the tables

Students began to scream and panic filled the room as three dark figures encroached the edges of the hall. Professors began evacuating everyone, aurors quickly coming to the defense of the school. 

But as the students began scrambling to leave, they couldn’t avoid the reality that they were faced with.

Hogwarts was not impenetrable. 

The Death Eaters were here.

The Halloween Party event is officially finished and a new surprise event has begun. We ask that no new threads about the Halloween party are started, however, you may continue any threads you already have.

Three Death Eaters appeared in the Great Hall at the end of the Halloween Party. They did not attack students, but rather intended to scare them by spreading fires and destroying tables and other objects. Aurors engaged in defending the students from any possible harm, but after causing some destruction, the Death Eaters escaped. 

Students may have sustained minor injuries from fire or debris, but they were not involved in any fighting - both professors and aurors preventing any particularly brave (or foolish) students from doing so.  They were evacuated from the Great Hall to the library, where impromptu sleeping arrangements have been set up. Here the teachers can do a head count and monitor all students to ensure their safety.

The event starts immediately, and should be tagged with wwrevent and wwrhalloweenattack. Threads can span from when the attack starts to being held overnight at the library. The event will last until the 15th September, after which no new threads should be started involving the event. However students can (and likely should) still be dealing with the aftermath once the event has finished.
