I take the long way home
Lana Del Rey / Honeymoon
“When Hades decided he loved this girl he built for her a duplicate of earth, everything the same, down to the meadow, but with a bed added. Everything the same, including sunlight, because it would be hard on a young girl to go so quickly from bright light to utter darkness Gradually, he thought, he’d introduce the night, first as the shadows of fluttering leaves. Then moon, then stars. Then no moon, no stars. Let Persephone get used to it slowly. In the end, he thought, she’d find it comforting. A replica of earth except there was love here. Doesn’t everyone want love? He waited many years, building a world, watching Persephone in the meadow. Persephone, a smeller, a taster. If you have one appetite, he thought, you have them all. Doesn’t everyone want to feel in the night the beloved body, compass, polestar, to hear the quiet breathing that says I am alive, that means also you are alive, because you hear me, you are here with me. And when one turns, the other turns— That’s what he felt, the lord of darkness, looking at the world he had constructed for Persephone. It never crossed his mind that there’d be no more smelling here, certainly no more eating. Guilt? Terror? The fear of love? These things he couldn’t imagine; no lover ever imagines them. He dreams, he wonders what to call this place. First he thinks: The New Hell. Then: The Garden. In the end, he decides to name it Persephone’s Girlhood. A soft light rising above the level meadow, behind the bed. He takes her in his arms. He wants to say I love you, nothing can hurt you but he thinks this is a lie, so he says in the end you’re dead, nothing can hurt you which seems to him a more promising beginning, more true.”

“Be with someone that requires you to grow, makes you forget your problems, holds your hand, likes to kiss, appreciates art, and adores you.”

“People who really go through it come to find that when you come out of your darkest days, you develop a sense of happiness that is so much more fulfilling. And they’ll tell you that it’s something worth fighting for.”
— riley b.
Me every time spring comes and there’s more daylight: I am ALIVE! The world is wonderful and I am filled with ALL of the creative energy. Maybe I’ll clean the whole house, start a major project, practice all the instruments I’ve been neglecting all winter, read all my unfinished books, and cook myself a five course meal (plus dessert).
My advice is that you not blame yourself and do not accept the blame others will try to place on you. You should not be blamed for waiting 15 minutes or 15 days or 15 years to report sexual assault or harassment, or for the outcome of what happens to a person after he or she makes the choice to sexually harass or assault you. - Taylor for TIME’s Silence Breakers
Again and again. I could not say this enough. Do not be ashamed of the wars your soul has fought to save itself.
Biology
It was in the pages of a
biology textbook that I first
learned my body was composed
of 75% water and 206 bones
.
It was in these same pages
that I first realized I was made
of more than what you lead me
to believe, that I had a whole
world of science in me, wrapped
in skin and strength that was mine
You are always rebuilding. You are always reaching for the river.

I marvel at the trees, how their leaves change colors and fall off. I realize the biggest lesson I must learn from autumn is how to gracefully let go.

Acting like you don’t care is not letting it go.
