where do people get energy from
List of things I am currently handling well
1.
people will really be bothered from you for being soft, and living life at ease. i’m sorry, i don’t run on chaos, cortisol, and victim mentality. i show up for myself. i put in the work. i’m kind because it keeps my spirit light, not for applause. you should try it, and you’ll feel less triggered from others living with calmness and appreciation.

Tips for dealing with below 0°F temperatures, for anyone who's not used to it and is now having to deal with it in this winter storm:
Tuck your shirt into your pants to prevent the cold from sneaking in
Put on a sweater or a hoodie over that, and then also wear a coat over that
Put on a beanie and then pull your hood up over that (BOTH hoods if you're wearing a hoodie instead of a sweater)
Wear a scarf underneath your coat hood. You want it to be kept as close to you as possible, and hopefully high enough that you can tuck your nose into it while walking outside
Wear solid pants like jeans, and put on tights, leggings, or (if you actually have any) long underwear underneath
Wear two pairs of socks—at least one of which is long socks—and tuck your leggings into those
Wear boots or some other thick shoe with good traction if you have any
GLOVES. Wear two pairs of you need to. I only have one pair and now my hands are my only weak point 😭
Try not to stay outside for too long if you can help it, frostbite and hypothermia are painful and very dangerous. When you're inside, make sure you're eating plenty of food and drinking plenty of water. Your body needs energy and hydration to fight off the cold. Stay safe out there everyone
midwesterner here, want to add that while jeans are very good and sturdy, they are an absolute NIGHTMARE when wet. denim holds water like no other. so be aware if you have to deal with a lot of snow that they aren’t the best.
Additional advice: Try not to bunch your leggings and pants into your boots, put them on the outside if at all possible. It will keep from letting snow inside your boots and melting around your ankles, AND too many layers inside tight boots can restrict blood flow and circulation, leading to cold toes!
'Nother Midwesterner chiming in: LEATHER COATS ARE YOUR FRIEND.
GET THEM SECONDHAND IF YOU CAN BUT GET A GODDAMN LEATHER COAT IF YOU HAVE TO SPEND SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF TIME OUTSIDE. NOTHING BLOCKS WIND AND MOISTURE LIKE LEATHER.
When we had a polar vortex several years back that plunged local temps to -50 (you could spit and it would freeze BEFORE it hit the sidewalk and your eyelids would FREEZE SHUT) my $20 leather trench LITERALLY saved my life when I was walking from the women's shelter to the library every day.
Also, socks made SPECIFICALLY FOR below-freezing temps are a must. I got two pairs for $6 from Farm King last week and they were honestly the best investment I've made all year (wool socks would have been better, but these are good.)
”getting thicker skin” is great in theory but I think for some people “get better at handling your thin skin” is gonna be way more helpful advice. I have strong emotional reactions to criticism and they might never go away, but i can continue to try and handle each situation maturely and that’s the important part. Sometimes irrational feelings are chronic and living with them is better than trying to beat yourself up into not having them.
maybe a mildly hot take but i think everyone should be well acquainted w rejection. my goal is to put myself in as many situations as possible, even w the knowledge in mind that it might end w me rejected in some form. bc not caring about that leads to so much growth, & the more exposed you are to something, the more desensitized you are to it. i wanna reach a point where i don’t give even the slightest fuck about rejection at ALL bc i know that it had nothing to do w me personally. things just don’t work out sometimes
Wishing I was here right now🤍

“I used to dislike being sensitive. I thought it made me weak. But take away that single trait, and you take away the very essence of who I am. You take away my conscience, my ability to empathize, my intuition, my creativity, my deep appreciation for the little things, my vivid inner life, my deep awareness of others’ pain, and my passion for it all.”
