i’m reading this at the minute. i haven’t finished manne’s ‘logic of misogyny’ book, but i thought i’d switch it up with some sci-fi.

this is what i’m reading, currently. 

tumblr still hasn’t responded to me about the fact that the verification email isn’t coming through, so i can’t change my theme. nonetheless, i thought i’d add another post because i finished the phillip k dick novel and have started on this, instead. 

it’s always interesting to read academic feminist texts because, whilst i’m in general agreement, it’s nice to see points of disagreement that show feminism is not this monolithic entity people presume it to be. and, contrary to popular discourse, it’s not self-contained, but vast and stretching and, in some cases, humble. manne herself admits the limits of the text, the topics she wants to cover, but cannot. 

furthermore, reading this is distracting me from the way i feel, now. i have a psych eval on friday, so i’m just trying to keep myself busy. and there’s an essay due on thursday, so i’m writing that, too.

wow. i haven’t been on tumblr in so long. i’ve been struggling... a lot. and i remembered that tumblr used to be a solace to me, once. so i decided to come back. i’d like to use it at least positively, though, so i figured that i could use my tumblr to track the things i’ve read. 

here’s what i finished the other day: ‘do androids dream of electric sheep’ which is the book that inspired bladerunner. it was interesting because i’d never watched bladerunner before, but had some idea what it was like because of how popular it is. but the novel was good. i ended up watching the film, after, and they’re both very different. i like deckard much more in the film, but i think i like rachel must more in the novel because i think she’s more robust than in the film. that’s just some vague thoughts.
